"My Mall" commissioned as part of the opening of the Powerhouse Museum Paramatta in late 2026 - photographer @jo_duck
"Last year I was commissioned by Powerhouse Parramatta to shoot fifty portraits of people in Western Sydney, looking specifically at their connections to shopping and shopping centres.
The project took me home, which gave my heart a swellin’.
This portrait is the first to be released before the opening of the new Powerhouse museum later this year. It’s of Emilia, Comfort and Vida at My African Beauty Shop in Blacktown.
At first the ladies were suspicious of me and my big camera, but Emilia allowed a few shots, and once she saw she was looking good and that I could do cute lighting, everyone was happy to get in on it.
I love that this portrait has a timelessness to it, like it could be anywhere in the world sometime from 1990 onward" -Jo Duck
