이 세계에 들어온 것은 대략 2년째다. 처음에는 실험음악을 연주한다는 베뉴를 찾아다니며 이 새롭고 낯설어 보이는 세계를 열심히 구매하고 관찰했다. 그보다 좀 더 되었을 때는 내가 이해하지 못하는 어떤 심오한 차원이나 의미가 숨겨져 있지 않을까 생각해 꿍꿍이를 찾으려 애썼다. 그러나 이 연주회는 방에 앉아 있는 나를 그저 즐겁게 했다. 나는 익숙해진 플라스틱 접이식 의자에 기대어 편안히 연주를 듣고 있었고, 그 연주가 마치 당사자들조차 완벽하게 이해하지 못하지만 계속해서 통하는 어떤 대화를 하고 있는 것처럼 보였다. (어떤 순간에는 긍정적 의미로 감기걸린 코끼리 소리 같기도 했으며, 나는 그 날 한 음악가에게서 생전 처음 듣는 소리를 들었다.) 그 소리들은 내가 오래 정차해있어도 주차딱지를 떼지도 않았고, 이쪽으로 가야한다며 나를 불러세우는 발렛 요원도 아니었다. 나는 머릿속에서 누군가가 건네준 공짜 카나페를 들고 이리저리 자리를 옮겨다니며 경청할 뿐이었다. 이 즐거움에 대해 생각했다.

It's been roughly two years since I entered this world. At first, I went around hunting down venues that claimed to play experimental music, eagerly purchasing and observing this strange new world. A little further in, I became convinced there had to be some profound hidden dimension or meaning I was missing, and I did my best to find what it was all up to.

But this particular show just made me happy to be sitting in the room. I leaned back in my now-familiar plastic folding chair and listened, comfortable — as if the music were carrying on a conversation that even the people in it hadn't quite figured out, yet somehow it kept making sense. (At one point, in the best possible way, it sounded like an elephant with a head cold, and that night I heard a sound from one musician I had never heard in my life.)

The sounds didn't ticket me for parking too long. They weren't valet attendants flagging me down, insisting I go this way. I just drifted around inside my own head, holding a free canapé someone had handed me, moving from spot to spot, listening closely. I thought about this unaccountable kind of jest.

Q. 무슨 내용인가요.

A: ⟨무한한 농(Infinite Zest)⟩은 제가 겪었던 사건과 현상들, 그리고 반복해서 들렸던 소리에 대한 이야기입니다.

Q. 왜 극인가요?

A: 약 1년 전쯤 저는 [미래 희곡 운동장]이라는 수업에 참여했습니다. 이 수업에서 저는 어떠한 가능성을 상상하고, 효율적으로 세계를 만드는 방법을 배웠습니다. 극이라는 형태가 세계에 바로 진입할 수 있도록 해주었습니다.

전작의 세계관이 이번 작과 연결되기에 전에 이를 보셨던 분들이라면 어떻게 이야기가 자랐는지 보실 수 있습니다. 물론 전작을 전혀 모르고 봐도 무방합니다.

Q. 미래의 관객을 위해 최후의 변론을 해보시죠.

A: 이야기에 관심이 있으시다면 함께하시길... 혹은 그냥 이게 뭔지는 알 수 없지만 궁금하신 분들께도 적합할 것 같습니다. 공연 후에는 해당 주제로 관객분들과의 대담이 이루어집니다. (그리고 이것은 올해 제게 퍼포머로서는 마지막 공연이 될 예정입니다.)

⟨Infinite Zest⟩ Q&A

Q. What is this about?
A: Infinite Zest is a dramatic record of a world triggered by inexplicable events and a recurring, eerie sound. All these fragments seemed to gravitate toward the space of "Sonic Speculation" to finally coalesce. I felt if I didn’t speak now, this story might vanish forever.

Q. Why a play?
A: A play is a portal. I learned the art of "efficient world-building" a year ago, and this form allows me to step directly into that reality. If you’ve seen my previous work, you’ll see how the narrative has twisted and evolved—but no prior homework is required to enjoy the ride.

Q. Any final words?
A: If you have a soft spot for fiction, dark jokes, or a hint of horror, you’re in. Or, if you’re just curiously drawn to the unknown—even better. Join us for a post-show talk to unpack the madness. (P.S. This is my final performance of the year.)
