Learning from the gauchos in Patagonia on location with @eileenfisherny (12.2019.)

This was definitely one of the most educational and beautiful projects I've had the opportunity to work on -- we learned so much from these farmers about biodiversity, the role grasslands play in the climate and of course we learned a lot about maté (and drank plenty of it too!)

Craig the Elephant lived a remarkable 54 years, laying down his massive tusks for the last time at 3:32 a.m.

His long life was made possible by communities and conservationists who protected him and his habitat for decades… a reminder of our calling to care for our planet’s magnificent creatures, big and small.

To share a few sunrises and sunsets in his presence was a rare encounter with awe and for that I am forever grateful.

Rest well, Craig. A true legend.

My wish for 2026 is that we can treat one another with dignity.

Maven Gallery was privileged to host celebrated cellist, Yo-Yo Ma in conversation with members of the creative youth of Wichita and gallery collectors.

Wichita native and Maven Gallery owner Austin Mann has worked with Yo-Yo Ma for the past seven years, traveling together worldwide for the musician’s Bach Project and Our Common Nature initiative.

As a long-time colleague of the Manns, Ma was curious to visit their gallery and its neighborhood of College Hill.

The evening consisted of select musical numbers and a discussion between Ma and Mann of their shared passion for science, art and their service to society.

Maven Gallery’s latest exhibition Seasons of Light is now on view through January 24th.

Maven Gallery seeks to celebrate Kansas through the creative perspective of artists from near and far. As part of that vision, the Gallery premiered a new, short, musical film featuring Ma in the vast prairie of the Flint Hills.

Afterwards, Ma’s impromptu pop-up performance of Christmas carols was a delight for the College Hill community.

High in the sacred mountains of the Lunana Valley in Bhutan, where Himalayan glaciers give birth to rivers that sustain over 2 billion lives far beyond, music and storytelling come together.

World-renowned cellist @yoyoma and Oscar-nominated Bhutanese filmmaker @pawo join hands in a new film project, Song for the Snow Lion, a story that carries a simple yet essential truth… that we are all interdependent, connected from the highest peaks to the deepest valleys.

Journeying to almost 5,000 meters above sea level, they offer a song to the Snow Lion, a prayer for the protection of the melting glaciers and the lives they sustain.

The mythical Snow Lion has stood as a guardian to the Himalayas. However, as global warming accelerates and we lose our glaciers inch by inch, the noble Snow Lion now loses its home along with the billions displaced along the web of the rivers and its tributaries that the Himalayan glaciers feed. An urgent call to protect what still remains.

Grateful for this journey, for the music, and for the mountains that hold us.

Lately I’ve been diving into radar maps, weather models, and wide open skies — learning to track these summer storm systems around my Kansas home has opened up a whole new connection to a place I thought I knew so well.⁠
⁠
As an artist, I’ve often chased awe and the Sublime in the high alpine and wild megafauna… but learning to find it here, on the prairie, has been a different kind of challenge — and a deeply meaningful one.⁠
