Burlington, VT (aka N’Dakinna) 🍁

I’m thrilled to announce the Life of Passion Tour. It’s a co-headliner with @bluerangerisaband to celebrate the release of my forthcoming album. The Marrés will perform new BR material as a dynamic duo. We’ll also be performing my songs live, slinging CDs, and playing with fantastic musicians/bands across the Northeast.
I can’t wait to hit the open road with Evan, Josh, and Jens. Hope to see you out there!

“Shine On, Jim Key!” is out now. It is the lead single off Life of Passion, an album I made with Josh and Evan Marré at Russtudios in Troy, NY. You can listen wherever you listen and/or purchase a download on Bandcamp. Given that it is Bandcamp Friday all sales go directly to the artist. I appreciate your support!
I wrote this song about the true story of William “Doc” Key and his remarkable stallion, widely known as Beautiful Jim Key. Jim was a performing horse who rose to fame around the turn of the twentieth century. Jim was neither particularly strong nor fast. Instead it was his intellect that captured the American imagination. Doc taught Jim how to read, spell, and solve math problems. In their “hay-day” the duo toured every major city in the nation and performed for massive audiences, packing renown venues like Madison Square Garden. Then President McKinley claimed, “This is the most astonishing and entertaining exhibition I have ever witnessed.”
As soon as I heard this story I knew I had to memorialize it in song. To me, it touches on the wonderful strangeness of life and everlasting power of belief. Shine on!

Here in VT we woke up to 39 degrees and freezing rain. Heavy fog hung over Lake Champlain and the water churned with blue-green waves. It looked more like a view of the North Sea. I love my home, but damn…that was a bit rugged for late-April. I wrote this song to commemorate the occasion.
I have a gig this Fri 4/24 opening for the awesome @emilyyacina at @monkeyhouse_vt. @jhybert and I are playing as a duo. Will I make Jens play this brand new song he’s never heard? Come to the show and find out!
I started learning “Far From Me” today off of John Prine’s self-titled record. There are so many phenomenal songs on that album, I think this one tends to get overlooked. He could really paint a scene. And what a soulful chorus!
Thanks to all the friends/music lovers who made it out to Foam. If you missed, not to worry! I have another gig @monkeyhouse_vt on Fri 4/24 opening for @emilyyacina. She’ll be on tour all the way from LA playing songs off her great album, “Veilfall.” Hope you’ll join.
Here is a snippet of “Beautiful Jim Key,” a song from the forthcoming record. It tells the story of its equine namesake and his owner, William “Doc” Key, a self-taught veterinarian and purported animal whisperer. It’s a tale of patience, compassion, and triumph.
If you want the full story, join us for a FREE SHOW at @foampresents this coming Fri 4/3. I’ll be supporting @eliza.edens along with @cricket_blue. Shine on! ⭐️
I saw Rosanne Cash (@rosannecash) at @sprucepeakarts last night. She was accompanied by her husband, John Leventhal (@johnleventhal) one of my favorite guitar players/producers. The performance was awe-inspiring, and their song, “The Sunken Lands” stuck with me. I decided to work it up this AM. What a great study in storytelling.
I’m performing at Foam on Fri 4/3. I’ll be sharing the stage with the fabulous @eliza.edens and @cricket_blue. I’ll be playing songs off the forthcoming record. Several fine musicians will be backing me up. Can’t wait!

Adding to an already special night, @cricket_blue and @b0malcolm join @eliza.edens on April 3 at Foam. Expect a full evening of thoughtful, intimate songwriting.
NPR Music calls Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith of Cricket Blue “master storytellers”, and the All Scene Eye says Cricket Blue “sets a new standard for fiction-folk.” In 2019, the duo released their first full-length album, Serotinalia, to widespread praise, and were voted “Best Folk Group” in Vermont’s Seven Daysie Awards. As a response to the interruption of live music in 2020, the duo spearheaded a series of elaborately-arranged covers of songs from the Over the Garden Wall soundtrack, which have since earned a small but enthusiastic international following. They have played stages and festivals around the United States and Canada and are working on their second full-length album.
Bo is a songwriter from Burlington, VT aka N’Dakinna. Bo writes to get in touch with a sense of wonder. His songs tell stories of trial and triumph, carefully crafted to draw attention to life in all its multitudes—beauty, brutality, and strangeness.”
Free show. RSVP highly encouraged. Link in bio.

I love Tom Petty.
I also have a show coming up at Foam on Fri 4/3. I’ll be sharing the stage with an old friend @eliza.edens and one of Burlington’s finest @cricket_blue. I hope you can join!

Live at Gman is out now! This is a Bandcamp exclusive release available only as a digital album.
In August 2025, six friends packed two cars full of gear and embarked on a 10-day tour of the Rust Belt. They averaged 5 hours of driving a day. They dined at truck stops and late-night halal joints. They stood on the shores of Lake Michigan and watched as anglers hauled shimmering salmon from its crystal depths. They wandered around neighborhoods haunted by the collapse of a once-mighty manufacturing industry. And everywhere they went, they brought their music—to musty college basements, rock clubs, and backyards in late-summer bloom. It was all one could hope for: eerie, beautiful, humbling, tedious, and outrageously fun.
Live at Gman documents the musical high-water mark of the tour. Already 7 days in, the band was “road tight” and eager to make a splash in the Windy City.
Stream and/or buy it on this Bandcamp Friday. Link in bio.
This is a song I wrote about John Prine, one of my favorite writers, a man whose wit, imagination, and empathy knew no bounds. Prine’s songs have offered me solace and taught me so much about the craft. You really raised the bar, JP! We miss you.
I wrote the first draft of this song in Sept ‘24. It’s the first track we cut for the forthcoming album. Hear me play it live at @radiobean on Fri 3/6 opening for @chicostatesmusic!
