𝔗𝔥𝔢 ℜ𝔞𝔦𝔩𝔦𝔫𝔤𝔰 is a collection of play assemblies that turns safety hardware into instruments of touch, play, and shared risk. handrails and cushions, stacked, doubled, strapped, unstrapped, folded, rolled, are repurposed to explore how bodies might encounter each other when the design logics of security are loosened.

Join us at the M&A Storefront for a performance led by Shibari artist and practitioner Kemo Burns @burns.rope on October 4th. 𝔗𝔯𝔞𝔡𝔢 𝔖𝔞𝔣𝔢 ℭ𝔥𝔞𝔰𝔱𝔦𝔱𝔶 𝔅𝔬𝔵, an interactive and mutable installation by Strat Coffman @bagstrat & Adam Barrett Miller @pneustars will transform into a rigging armature and setting for this rope bondage art that centers aesthetics, technique, form, and trust. Burns will suspend and maneuver models through an evolving sequence of restriction and release that animates the installation’s inversion of surveillance logics.
Guests are invited to arrive at 7:30pm, and the performance will begin at 8pm.

On Friday, September 26 at 7:30pm, debuting alongside ‘Glances in Plain Sight’ Cine Apartamento presents an ongoing archival loop of images, text, and clips that expand upon the piece 𝕿𝖗𝖆𝖉𝖊 𝕾𝖆𝖋𝖊 𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖎𝖙𝖞 𝕭𝖔𝖝 by Strat Coffman & Adam Barrett Miller. Reconfiguring notions of surveillance, identity, the state, and old cruising spots, the loop highlights the ever expansive queer history of Los Angeles.

Join us at the M&A Storefront for an evening that moves between screen, archive, and installation. ‘Glances in Plain Sight’ offers a night featuring a short screening program curated by Cine Apartamento @cine.apartamento, consisting of the films: ‘Behind Every Good Man,’ and ‘Fun With a Sausage,’ exploring surveillance, cruising, policing, gender, and sexuality. This program expands upon and contextualizes the interactive installation 𝔗𝔯𝔞𝔡𝔢 𝔖𝔞𝔣𝔢 ℭ𝔥𝔞𝔰𝔱𝔦𝔱𝔶 𝔅𝔬𝔵 by Strat Coffman @bagstrat & Adam Barrett Miller @pneustars, which invites visitors to engage with intimacy, public display, and architectures of surveillance.
As part of the activation, Cine Apartamento will also premiere a 5-minute looping archival piece, reconfiguring notions of sex, the state, and queer bodies, while the installation and its reflections examine surveilled bodies, public space, and histories of visibility in Los Angeles.
