This is Biaxident by Liquid Tension Experiment. Mixed by Kevin Shirley. It was the early 2000s and I kept repeating this section FOR HOURS every other day. This and When The Water Breaks, that A-C-D 7/8 section before the insane drum solo. Anyway, this is one of my favourite chord progressions ever. Might do a series on my favourite chord progressions.

Dan Estrin (Hoobastank’s guitar player) is one of my fav guitar players.

Long time ago when I bought Logic, I attempted to explore the signal path behind the part. Difficult to say the least. I barely managed to get the delays but I had a hard time figuring out how to pitch it, let alone figure out how to play it. It’s under 2m, but it can drive you nuts. So, thank God for YouTube.
I read that the mix engineer (Pascal Fillet) for Passion and Warfare wrote in to Steve Vai asking to intern at his studio to fulfil school requirements by spending real hours at a studio. Steve Vai said yes.
And now we have the internet and social media. I’ve DM’d several musicians I look up to on Instagram and they do reply! Sometimes just to say thank you for their craft. Sometimes to ask how they get a particular sound. Sometimes to verify particular chapters in the history of music.
