Roller Derby has always been for everyone.

At Bath Roller Derby, we are deeply disappointed by today’s news. We want to take this moment to say — loudly and clearly — that trans, nonbinary, and intersex people have always been part of our sport, and will always have a place in Roller Derby.

Our league is proudly made up of people of many gender identities, and we stand united in our commitment to inclusion, safety, and solidarity. Everyone belongs at Roller Derby! 🏳️‍⚧️

Trans people belong – in sport, in society, everywhere.

The UK Government’s treatment of trans people is a key reason why we have dropped from 1st to 22nd place in Europe’s LGBT+ rights rankings in just a few years*. The updated EHRC Code of Practice is the latest blow to the rights of trans people to live freely.

Roller derby prides itself on LGBTQ+ inclusion. We ask everyone who loves this sport to stand in solidarity with trans people.

What can you do?
-Understand what’s happening. The EHRC Code of Practice applies to the Equality Act (2010). Follow organisations such as @transactualuk
and @goodlawproject to understand its impacts and what you can do.
-Support your trans friends and loved ones.
-Support trans led organisations in your local area.
-Write to your MP about your objections to the Code and how it segregates trans people.

This is a tough time for the LGBTQ+ community. With Pride month just around the corner, we remember that the gay rights movement we know would not exist without trans people. Now and always, there’s no LGB without the T.

A huge thank you to @severnrollertorrent for a great host day, and to all the officials and volunteers. And a special shout out to Bath’s mighty officials squad for Doing The Thing!

Bath Spartans took on our beloved rivals at Devon A in the latest round of Five Nations Tier 3 action! Spartans worked hard to try and finally secure a win against our besties, using sticky walls and relentless recycling. But Devon hit back hard with some excellently calibrated offence, and came out victorious with the score of DRDA 178 - 132 Bath Spartans. But we managed to halve our points score differential from the last time we clashed, so we’re pretty chuffed with that! Next time, Devon! 🫶

Thank you to our friends at @bridgendrollerderbyfor coming over for a closed door scrim on Saturday. We had a lot of fun playing with you, while also putting our training into practice ready for our upcoming Five Nations matches.

It was a mixed-level team but mostly made up of Spartans - a special shout out to two of our Romans, Makillda and Derby Allin,who rose to the challenge and smashed it.

Last but not least - to all the officials and volunteers who gave up a sunny Saturday morning to make the game happen, and also to Elemental from Wiltshire for joining us and slotting in brilliantly. We couldn't do it without you!
