It’s open to all the dance, movement, physical theatre community.
13th - 17th
Each day starts with a class and then we’ll be slowing down, speeding up, creating and improvising in response to tasks and scenes. Lots of group work, lots of exploring your own movement in relation with concepts and themes.

Women In Black
These absolute forces just nailed their premiere.

Our piece… my commission for the Over 60s performance group at @theplacelondon which was made and choreographed in collaboration with the performers, was the closing act for “Seasoned: A Mixed Bill” showcasing all the incredible people dancing across London and further a field who are over 60.

I’m going to keep blubbing about this project until someone gives us another performance date because they need to be seen.

I’ve wanted to work with a group of dancers in their 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th decades of life for a while and the experience has been transformative. These dancers haven’t got pro training or performance experience, they attend classes for the joy of it and they very generously collaborated and worked their butts off.
Improvising text and everything! 😭🫶🏻🔥

Mad proud of them all.

I’ve recently been working with these absolute forces. We’ve been making a new short piece together and their London premiere is this weekend on Saturday evening! (7th March)…link in bio.Might be a couple tix left if you’re lucky.
I’m pretty astounded by them.
These are the gals who make up this years over 60s performance group at @theplacelondon 👌🏻
When I say have they have risen to the challenge, they have been creating movement, they have been counting in silences, they are using their voices, they are attacking the dance. None of them have been professional dancers and I’m trying to say this without it coming off patronising but PROFESSIONAL SHMESSIONAL they are nailing it and they look like it.
they all have incredible passion, patience and dedication for dance and performance.
It’s very humbling and empowering, abit terrifying to start with, to create with a group of people who (for some) have double your life experience and more. What an honour and an absolute riot.
They get it. They’ve got it. They surprised themselves and they are pushing themselves with each rehearsal.
It’s really touching and I’m greatly inspired.
Thank you to Jessica, Imelda and Aria at The Place and the team for making this happen.
They recently performed at the press day for @theangelarippon ‘s Let’s Dance campaign And there will be more performances to come I’m sure very soon.
The 7minute piece currently titled ‘Women in Black’ is performed by
Jill, Pol, Susanna, Judith, Jennifer, Su-Ann, Shona, Sally, Roberta, Sarah, Sarah Mc, Heather & Louise.
