Beyond Thoughtless Design — Forum highlights & thank you 💙

From accessibility to policy, from empathy to advocacy — the BEDA Design Forum 2026 in Munich made one thing clear: everything is design 🧩💡

As Christina Melander (@christina1608) put it:
💬“Design must no longer be treated as an afterthought, but embedded as a core driver of decision‑making.”

Across panels and deep dives, we explored how design shapes inclusion, governance, and responsibility — and why scaling what already works is now Europe’s shared task.

🙏 Thank you to all speakers and contributors:
Christina Melander, Mark Illi, Jesko Rölz for setting the tone on design as a strategic driver

Regina Hanke, @rihardsfunts & Janis Frisvalds, Katerina Katmada (@kinvent_official), Chele Esteve Sendra (@ideas_upv)for exploring accessibility, inclusion, and lived experience

Tom Watts (@dccireland) for creating space to reflect and shift perspectives in the Accessibility deep dive.

Marzia Mortati (@polimi), @karelvanderwaarde, Svenja Bickert‑Appleby (@neworderdesign.academy), Teri Okoro (@toca_uk) for unpacking design’s role in policy and governance;

Piotr Swiatek (@peemef) for reframing advocacy as long‑term, relational work;
and Sophia Bonne (@euipo) for highlighting the importance of design protection and collective awareness at European level.

Europe has the tools. Now it’s time to scale 🚀

➡️ More insights from the Forum on the BEDA website - link in bio

🙏 Thank you to our partners, supporters, and everyone who joined the conversation in Munich.

💙 The BEDA family gathered once again — this time in Munich for the 57th General Assembly.

📍 This year marked a significant milestone as BEDA enters a new leadership period.

🎉 Congratulations to Mark Illi (Switzerland) on beginning his term as BEDA President, and to Antonella Adriani @antonella_andriani (Italy) as newly appointed Vice President — helping shape the next chapter of our shared European design journey.

🌍 The newly elected Board for 2026–2028 reflects the diversity and strength of Europe’s design ecosystem, representing nine countries across the continent:

🌟 Beyond Thoughtless Design: Designing change for the public good

The BEDA Design Forum in Munich is just around the corner—join us on 8 May 2026! 🏛️✨

We’re excited to welcome Svenja Bickert-Appleby to our Policy Panel.

Her work focuses on helping organisations rethink systems, services and ways of working towards more sustainable and collaborative futures—bridging innovation, policy and practice and turning ideas into impact.

💡 Don’t miss her contribution to the Policy Panel, where she’ll explore how design can support systemic change and drive innovation for the public good.

🌟 Beyond Thoughtless Design: Designing change for the public good

The BEDA Design Forum in Munich is just around the corner—join us on 8 May 2026! 🏛️✨

We’re excited to welcome Svenja Bickert-Appleby to our Policy Panel.

🎤 Founder & CEO of @neworderdesign.academy , Svenja works at the intersection of design, policy and societal transformation—using strategic design, co-creation and circular economy approaches to drive meaningful change across the public sector and beyond.

Svenja believes that “Design policy is how we govern design—so decisions are made intentionally, collectively, and responsibly. Co-design is how we make those decisions together when complexity demands it.”

🙏 A big thank you to @paivi.tahkokallio for her incredible contribution to MADres, the strategic initiative of the Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA). 💙

As Founder & CEO of Tahkokallio Design+ and former BEDA President, Päivi brought exceptional insight and vision to the early days of this journey — helping shape what MADres is becoming today. It’s been a pleasure working together ✨

As part of our commitment to gender balance, Päivi has agreed to step down from the advisory board — and we’re truly grateful for her support and understanding.

At the same time, we’re excited to welcome Bart Ahsmann, Managing Director of CLICKNL and former BEDA President, to the MADres advisory board 🙌

Looking forward to the energy and perspective he’ll bring!

💙 Thank you, Päivi — and welcome, Bart!

✨ Design creates desire. And desire creates value.

Too often, design protection is seen as complex, costly or “just legal”. But what if it were a strategic business tool instead?

In reality, design protection is a driver of connection, differentiation and business growth.

That’s why @euipo, @beda_network – The Bureau of European Design Associations, and ECTA are joining forces for a joint webinar to show how design protection fits naturally into the lifecycle of innovation — and into real business strategy.

📅 21 April 2026
⏰ 10:00–11:00 CEST
🎨 Design protection as a business strategy: turning creativity into competitive advantage

You’ll discover how design is:

🔹 A strategic business tool
🔹 An enabler of competitiveness
🔹 A bridge between creativity and market success

This session brings together institutional, industry and practitioner perspectives to reframe design protection as something practical, accessible and business‑driven — not just legal.

🎤 Speakers
• Emmanuel Collin (EUIPO)
• Dita Danosa (BEDA) @ditadanosa
• Rogier Goos (ECTA)

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
