CHELSEA WOLFE - DUSK 7” lathe cut

We are big fans and it has been incredible to create the 7” lathe cuts for Chelsea's new single DUSK.

"For the lead-up to our single “Dusk” we mailed out a limited number of lathe-cut 7” records with the new song to a few fans. Each piece came with a unique QR code linking to a secret website. Each scan added a new fragment of glass to the site, until the glass egg from the artwork was made whole again, unlocking a preview of “Dusk” before it was released. Thanks to all who participated!”

The 7” features the track DUSK on the A-side with lyrics from the track mechanically engraved in a circle “CRACKED AND FRACTURED HELD ANEW AND WHOLE AGAIN”.
The B-side is entirely covered with a direct on-body print.

We are big fans and it has been incredible to create the 7” lathe cuts for Chelsea's new single DUSK.

The vast majority of pressing plants require a minimum of 100 units. We are working with a boutique plant that starts with runs of 50. This is significant for labels and artists who want the quality of pressed vinyl without committing to quantities that don't suit their release.

The plant is run by My Shank — a French company operating at the highest level within the disc mastering and lathe-cutting industry. Their styli are used by Bernie Grundman. Their HeLiX23 cutter head is trusted by SST in Berlin. In 2024 we became the sole UK distributor of My Shank products, and our existing relationship with them gives us unique access to this new service that no else in the UK has.

We act as the broker. This means that the full process — from the master you supply to the record you receive — is managed by people who have been mastering audio and cutting vinyl for over two decades. We know what a pressing plant needs. We know what a good record sounds like. We act as your advocate inside the plant — ensuring your record receives the attention it deserves.

Z.F.A.L - HL38 - LATHE CUT 7" - 10/04/26

We're excited to announce our new single Z.F.A.L, a 17 minute long semi-improvised piece inspired musically and aesthetically by our love of Krautrock. Originally meant as one off live show at @manchesterpsychfest, this version was recorded live off the floor at the @motormuseumstudio in Liverpool, in one take.

Limited to 100 hand numbered copies, it will be available exclusively this Friday through @heavenslathe and will not be released across DSP's. If you want to hear it, you have to own it.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Bürocratik (@burocratik), the award winning and #1 digital design agency in Europe, on their '2006-2024 18 fkn Years with Büro the 12" Vinyl’ project. What an honour!

Some additional information on the blanks we use:

Innovated and manufactured by My Shank (@myshank_diamonds) in France, these blanks have the same feel and profile of a traditional pressed record found in stores across the world. Those are the aesthetic benefits. The sonic benefits compared to the old generation of ‘plastic sheets cut into circles’ is enormous:

They require a shallower cutting angle and have an increased surface rigidity. The shallower cutting angle minimises mechanical distortion and enables greater modulation amplitude within the groove. This enhances groove precision and definition, resulting in better separation and clearer highs (more precise stylus tracking).

The noise floor is as quiet as a lacquer.

Not only better looking, but better sounding.

Better for the environment too. The pressed blanks use 100% safe colour pigments, and are 100% recyclable containing no PVC or PETG additives.

The pressing production process produces no harmful dust or fumes and is therefore safe for the operators. It is a closed-loop no waste manufacturing process.

The production facility itself (based in France) and is fully powered by solar energy.
