"The Sound of Burning Man" captures the rhythm of a week in Black Rock City through one team’s lens.

Independently produced as a true passion project by the creatives at Bonamaze, this fast-paced, dynamic short follows a swirl of moments — Burners arriving, building, celebrating, resting, and diving back in again. From dusty work gloves to sunrise smiles to nights alive with dancing, it offers a glimpse into life on the playa and the care, craft, and dedication poured into bringing this vision to life.

Shot over 6 days, this video captures more than 850 original sounds of the city of Berlin.
First released in 2020.

Seven years ago, the legendary @tonyhawk made this piece with us, in his uniquely humble way.
We sampled more than 650 sounds to create The Sound of Skateboarding.
It was such an amazing experience that we’ll cherish forever. Thank you, Tony!

@bonamaze’s mesmerising film The Sound of Burning Man has been shortlisted for Sound Design at the @shots_creative EMEA 2025 Awards.

“Our first Burn was in 2017, and the experience stayed with us. Returning in 2024, we set out to capture Burning Man in a way that truly reflects the intensity, magic, and humanity of the festival.”

The @shots_creative EMEA Awards honour some of the most creative and innovative work across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, so being on this shortlist is a huge recognition to the talent and dedication behind every frame and every sound 👏🙌
