Last night’s NYC gala honored the original founders of The Felix Organization and A BroaderWay Foundation: Sheila Jaffe, Daryl McDaniels, Idina Menzel and Heather Zuckerman. The evening raised more than $1 million to support children growing up in the foster care system, adopted children, and underserved youth through transformative summer camp experiences and arts programming that encourages leadership, self-expression, and confidence. Powerful performances, inspiring moments, and so much heart in one room.

We are saddened to share the passing of Ann Baker, a force in the casting community and a true trailblazer in Boston.

As one of the pioneering women in this industry, she helped build the foundation so many of us stand on today. But what defined Ann just as much as her work was who she was to all of us: a mentor, a teacher, and a constant source of insight, honesty, and encouragement.

She taught and guided generations of actors and casting directors with a rare combination of rigor and generosity. Ann had a way of seeing people clearly, pushing them to be better while making them feel deeply supported. So many of us learned not just the craft from her, but how to navigate this industry with integrity.

From her work on Spenser For Hire, Where Are the Children?, Burned at the Stake, and American Playhouse, to the countless careers she helped shape in classrooms and casting rooms, her impact is immeasurable.

She did not just work in this industry. She shaped it, and she shaped all of us in it.

We are so grateful for her legacy. She will be deeply missed.
