Congrats to the Percent team!
Margarita Gomez-Puche (GD MFA ’27), Yue Zhou (GD MFA ’27), Alara Kalfazade (GD MFA ’27), and Melih Yilmaz (CAS’28) who won the Innovation Award for creating a font-creation tool called Percent.
The web-based platform was made for students and beginners who wish to design their own fonts from scratch and are frustrated with complex or expensive software.
Congrats to all the @bu_spark teams. What a great semester! 👏

#ProudtoBU: Congratulations are in order for @bu_visualarts’ Graphic Design program! 👩💻 Most recently, the program was recognized by Graphic Design USA (@gdusa)—the nation’s most popular news source for graphic design business, ideas, and opportunities since 1963—with @bostonu Assistant Professor Mary Yang named a GDUSA 2026 Person to Watch, three students selected as GDUSA‘s 2026 Students to Watch, and the program being listed among Top Design Schools in the country. 🐾
Yang, an assistant professor at BU teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate Graphic Design programs, is the co-founder of @radicalcharacters, an educational and curatorial platform that researches and explores graphic design, typography, and culture through Hanzi (Chinese characters). Yang is currently the 2025–2026 Artist-Writer-in-Residence at Johns Hopkins University’s University Writing Program.
Spanning undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs, these emerging creatives are developing the skills, confidence, and vision that today’s industry demands, according to GDUSA. Join us in recognizing BU students Yunxi (Lucy) Ye (CFA’26), Augie Oppenheimer (CFA’26), and Anne Chen (CFA’26)! 👏
💻 Lucy 👉 Working across typography, publication design, motion graphics, and interactive media, Lucy creates participatory and performative systems that translate physical action into visual and collective experience. Her work has been recognized by Design 360˚, the GDC Award, and the KTK Design Award, and has been exhibited internationally.
💻 Augie 👉 Augie chose to become a designer in order to utilize his creativity to solve real world problems, which he has been able to do while Interning at Spin350 Creative, working at @dailyfreepress, and designing for many other organizations throughout his time at BU.
💻 Anne 👉 Anne is particularly drawn to etching and silkscreen, integrating them with graphic design, to explore how analog and digital processes can meaningfully inform one another. Her practice centers on creating moments of connection: between people, between materials, and between inner experience and outward expression.

Attention art lovers — expand your collection and support a vital community project! Each year, Boston University School of Visual Arts printmaking students take part in a collaborative exchange with the Kopanang Community Trust in South Africa. Kopanang empowers women affected by HIV/AIDS and unemployment by teaching hand-embroidery and other crafts that provide income and community support. For this project, Kopanang artists translate BU student designs into vibrant embroidered works. These embroideries — together with the original student prints — will be available for purchase. All proceeds are donated to Kopanang to fund their programs and services for the local community.
⭐️This event was rescheduled from last week. Visit the table tomorrow (Wednesday, April 29) from 11am-4pm in 855 Comm Ave (first floor, next to the elevators).

Congratulations to Associate Professor of Art, Painting Lucy Kim—she was awarded the 2026 Wagner Arts Fellowship that supports mid-career artists in the Greater Boston area. She was one of three artists awarded an unrestricted grant of $75,000 and access to tailored artist support services. The Fellows will present their work in a group exhibition at the Wagner Gallery in August 2026.
Professor Kim is an interdisciplinary artist who works across painting, sculpture, and biological media. In her hybrid works, she embraces distortion as a tool to deconstruct how we see what we see, and by extension, the complicated relationship between truth and sight.
Kim is a recipient of the 2024 Howard Foundation Fellowship, and the 2017 ICA Boston James and Audrey Foster Prize. In 2022, she received the Creative Capital Award for her project printing images with bacteria that has been genetically-modified to produce melanin. Melanin is the main bio-pigment behind human skin, hair, and eye color. She began this project while an artist-in-residence at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and continues to develop it at Boston University, where she teaches. Through this project, Kim expands her committed study of our visual habits, which she first began in her sculptural paintings using unconventional processes in the studio. Kim is based in Cambridge, MA and is Associate Professor of Art at Boston University. She is represented by Praise Shadows.
Congratulations, Lucy🎉 @slucykim @wagnerfoundation @unitedstatesartists

She began this project while an artist-in-residence at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and continues to develop it at Boston University, where she teaches. Through this project, Kim expands her committed study of our visual habits, which she first began in her sculptural paintings using unconventional processes in the studio. Kim is based in Cambridge, MA and is Associate Professor of Art at Boston University. She is represented by Praise Shadows.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
