My son asks me “who are you going to eat lunch with?”, I said no one, just me.
He looked surprised and asked “why are you doing that?!”

I was surprised at his response, but then I thought, it’s understandable as I don’t usually do anything or go anywhere without these two boys.

I told him the truth; that sometimes, like most people, like him, you feel the need to be by yourself and it’s good to spend time with yourself.

To reconnect. To think. Or to just sit and be quiet. Meditate.

The past few days I felt the overwhelming need to be by myself.

Motherhood is beautiful, the most pure, loving, but hardest thing I’ve ever done. It is intense.

Then add home educating. Which feels right in my heart, but sometimes pounding to my head.

So 24/7 them, non stop, plus breastfeeding.
I needed this couple of hours.
Mostly I just sat with my thoughts; sipped my hot chocolate and ate, ATE, in my own time, without rushing.

No matter what, I have things and people to be grateful for.
