How did “Student X” know I would need this notebook?

Ten years ago, I caught him plagiarising.

After a difficult conversation with him and his parents, we made a decision:
He had to start again!

Fresh coursework with no shortcuts. Thankfully, he passed!🎉

After exams, he came to see me.
He said thank you.
And he handed me this notebook full of blank pages.

Two years later, I left teaching and stepped into the performing arts full throttle.

Many of those early days felt exactly like this notebook - completely blank, unwritten and often uncertain.

I had to learn to embrace the empty page, to trust God with it an to fill it slowly, one day at a time.

This notebook is almost full now.

And when I look at it, I don’t just remember the look on his face when he realised he’d been caught - an expression of deep shame. I remember the look of hope when he handed this to me.

And it hit me: he was given a blank page to begin again.

And maybe, without knowing it, he was reminding me that one day, I would need one too.

The blank page isn’t something to fear.

It’s permission to dream, to start again, it’s possibility.

BUT it’s the habits we learn from it
that delay us from unfolding into our purpose.

👉🏾Delaying.
👉🏾Choosing what feels safe over what feels true.

So here’s my reminder to self (and maybe to you too) as we move into a new week:

👉🏾Be open.
👉🏾Be unafraid.
👉🏾Laugh often.
👉🏾Start that business.
👉🏾Book that trip.
👉🏾 etc....

✨ Living fully might begin the moment we stop waiting.

❌ Dont ask for permission, GO FOR IT!
