I read one of my journal entries from back in March this morning.
I was searching for something.
Maybe wisdom or inspiration, or just a reminder from past me to present.
And i think I found it.
A meditation on trust.
And much as it makes me feel a bit queasy to share it, i’m doing it anyway.
Just incase someone else needed a reminder to trust.
It’s 11 minutes long, which is basically a trilogy by today’s standards but there you go.

Very proud to announce the Writers East Company 2025!
We received over 130 submissions for this year’s programme, and we’re absolutely over the moon to welcome these incredibly talented first-time working class writers to our theatre.
Over the coming 3 months, they’ll be mentored by our team and a host of industry professionals as they each develop their very first one-act play.

Had so much fun with this one 🥴😂
Don’t get me wrong auditioning can be A LOT. Hair, makeup, camera, angles, lighting, sound, editing, idents, you have to be able to do it all, and more often than not, you don’t even hear back for what is sometimes, hours of work 😅
But realistically this IS the job. Bringing your creative and artistic solutions to whatever ‘problem’ the writer/director/producer is trying to solve with your performance. And when it’s reframed in this way it becomes a lot more fun.
Booking a gig is the icing on the cake, but staying inspired, working to push your creative limits and learning through the opportunities presented is the real job.
This tape was for ONE line in a short film, but they were looking for someone with good comedic timing, so they asked for an improvised scene where your character has -
“clearly been out all night with friends, and they’re now hungover—but they must convince their partner that they were doing something completely wholesome and responsible instead. The catch: they’re making up the excuse on the spot. Ad-lib the story as you go, trying to sound as sincere and believable as possible while physically and emotionally battling the hangover.”
I came up with this pretty much on the spot and only shot 2 takes. I think it’s officially my first bit of comedy writing! 🎭
