Welcome to Des Moines, where it all began. This week, more than 600 of the nation’s top high school students are here for the National High School Mock Trial Championship, Inc., returning to the city that hosted the very first competition in 1984. Nearly 1,500 students, coaches, attorneys, judges and family members are expected in Greater Des Moines throughout the weekend as teams compete in one of the country’s premier academic competitions.
