A few months ago, a contest to redesign the flag of Montgomery, Alabama was opened to all residents.

I am now one of the FINALISTS in running for the design!

The goal of my design is to acknowledge all of the past, but prioritize what we HONOR and represent the most to everyone here and even the country as a whole.

I studied Vexillology, the philosophy behind flag design in depth and followed the rules of flag design such as recognizability from far away, eye-catching but simple patterns, and limited colors. I also utilized my understanding of symbolism, branding, and iconography that I’ve gained from all of the work I’ve done as an artist.

I have always valued what I’ve done, but to be able to take it to this level and truly give my artistry a purpose this profound is an opportunity I will forever be grateful for. I knew what I wanted to do with it, but just didn’t get around to it😭 but I’m glad It was now since I have a better understanding of the overall direction of my art style. I used essentially every single medium I had available such as colored pencils, crayons, acrylic markers & paint, fabric dye, and other miscellaneous experimental materials. I also tried a new technique as far as the frame customization by adding a specific pattern while leaving parts of the original wood out and I’m very pleased with the finish. What does “Release Your Creative Eye” Mean?

To me, making art is not just a thing I do. It is my entire life and it’s what my mind has been wired around since infancy. Design is everywhere around us; in the colors we see or don’t see, in nature, in architecture, in the most basic things there is a pattern and design. We are able to see the ways these elements of the world can exhibit beauty and nurture innovation.

Each person has their own life experiences and personalities which inform HOW they view these elements of design present in the world and process it in their minds. The act of using all of these factors to do or create something that speaks directly to the contents of your mind is what The Creative Eye encompasses. My life is highly interconnected with this philosophy and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Emissaries is a developing Fantasy-Action story franchise created by Charles R. Biggers III and Rickey Embry Jr. which chronicles the titular band of insurgents as they face a world in a perpetual loop of false evolution. As they work to expose the lies and secrets of The Atrium of Dawn, they must overcome the weight of their own demons and histories if they ever have a chance of freeing Ingea from this cycle.

I am currently working on a website page that will reveal more about the story in more detail as well as my roadmap for getting content out for it so stay tuned!
