Before you read on, may I please request that you not feel sorry for my loss?
I mean at moments I too feel immensely sorry for my loss but that’s not the point 😂

And if you’ve ever had the privilege of meeting her - whether through a photo, a video, or in real life - and that moment brought you joy, I’d love it if you could share that with me. 🙏🏼🌈

I will cherish her forever and I will try not to be sorry for my losing her.

Instead I want to celebrate every moment of my life right now because she opened my heart and soul to embrace everything with love and presence.

It was a rare form of aggressive stomach cancer that none of her doctors had seen before.
Her last lessons for me was the hardest to get through and comprehend.

But she helped me every single step of the way, through her pain she showed me the beauty of being present and being grateful.
It was indeed a privilege to have been there to care for her through her illness.
To be her mother here on earth has been the ultimate gift and privilege.

She has been my biggest teacher and my greatest joy.
Now she is the brightest Star in my sky ✨

I didn’t get much accomplished this year. Everything was put on hold.
I just didn’t have it in me to get things done. Promotion for my album put on hold.
Declined offers for roles. Cancelled plans. Bought tickets to friends’ shows I never got to see.
Because I chose to stay home with her.
And I’m so glad I did.
I’m glad I didn’t get much done this year.
But I got to spend her final days with her.
Never abandoning her side when she needed me the most.
For that, I am grateful beyond words.

Have always wanted to write a song for/about Lara but instead this one came out.
A song written inspired by a little kitten I picked up from Pudu with a severe abdominal hernia.
A song with many questions for her about the great beyond.
“What is it like on the other side?”

I didn’t get much accomplished this year.
But I did learn how to play the guitar and wrote my first song on the guitar this year.

So, thank you 2025. Thank you for levelling me up in more ways than one.

If you’ve been following us, you’ll remember we rescued a little orange kitten in September and raised funds for her surgery. She’s probably the only cat in Klang Valley with a mini trust fund now.

A little update on Moon’s condition (sorry for the delay):

We took her to see her doctor and surgeon as soon as we raised enough funds. After explaining the risks (each stage has about a 50% chance of survival), the doc asked us to go home and think hard about whether to go ahead with surgery or let her live a happy OKU life. Something they didn’t ask us to do when we were first told about her need for the surgery. We always thought that was the only option. Doc did mention that she looked stronger and more spirited than when doc first saw her in September.

Since then, Moon has had four episodes of what would look like a normal furball episode but a bit more alarming given her condition.

We took her for another check-up with a different doctor last week and have decided to go ahead with the surgery in January.

What I learnt from grief this year

That it changes you.

That great grief does not exist without great love.

Letting go does not mean forgetting.

That Buddha was right all along — it is the attachment that makes letting go so hard.
Duhh 🙄

That great love and great attachment are mutually exclusive.

That grief is not the enemy, but a friend who is misunderstood.

That
“Sending love”
“I’m here if you need me”
is gentler than asking questions
we don’t yet have the strength to answer.
Questions like
“what happened?”
“How are you?”

That great happiness and great sadness can coexist.
In the very same moment, in the very same breath, in the very same thought.

That even though mine is not the same as yours, it has the same face and the same name.

That time is but a concept made by man’s feeble understanding of the Universe.

That life does go on,
and they live on
in you, in me, in us
in the breeze
The Force ✨

That you don’t have to carry it.
Sit with it.
Play a song with it.
Dance with it 💃
Make art with it.

I step into the new year lighter, not because the grief is smaller, but because my heart has now learnt to hold it differently ❤️

To my loved ones who have rejoined The Force, I will forever carry you in my heart.
