Growing up in an Asian education system and family, I never imagined I could win an award in the UK. I’ve always felt I wasn’t good enough, and I still think there’s so much more to improve.
It’s very difficult to say how hard this journey has been. Working with my second language especially theatre is all about that is a big challenge for me. Coming to a foreign country and industry without any connections is also pretty scary. How is this possible?
OFFIES celebrates off-West End and independent theatre. It is big but also small. While many of my friends are designing large-scale productions, I’ve spent years battling with scholarships, the pandemic, homesickness, and visas. Now I have finally reached a milestone in my career. NGL, it feels so so so good.
P.S. Smaller spaces don’t mean they are easier. I reckon making small spaces speak loudly is one of my strengths.
Shoutout to all my migrant friends. Keep going, you will be seen. I don’t want to represent anyone, but I’m proud to be one of the Asian names on stage. I will love to see all of you getting awards and be proud of yourselves. You know how far you have come from, and you all are amazing.

近期最喜歡的照片
那天剛到台灣，因為時差睡不著。雀躍地去買期待已久的早餐，意外地路過小學側門口。要不是因為那天陽光剛好伴隨薄霧灑進，不知道有多少年沒有認真地看過這條巷子。
最近有滿強烈的感覺之於長大，開始覺得以前熟悉的人事物都變得好小。可能不是物理上的尺寸，而是一種心理上的俯視感。招牌上的水漬、沒有天花板的百貨公司、還有漸漸因為新的店家進駐而認不出來的街道。這種熟悉又陌生的感覺，讓我好像看見當時的自己也變得透明。腦中閃過很多瞬間，那些曾經讓我興奮、緊張、難受或是情緒起伏的，似乎都已趨於平淡。這些斑駁又破碎的樣子，才是屬於我自己的台灣感性。
這次海關問我，Are you still working in the UK?我淡淡地說了一句Yeah，就放行了。看著前後的朋友們拿著相關機票住宿證明，並且解釋自己要在這裡停留多久，就想起當初第一次去郵局領居留證的樣子。
我在巷子裡停留了許久，拍了幾張照片。一輛貨卡要出來，就離開了。
This year, work-wise, has been the worst so far, but there’s a lot to appreciate. Since there are way fewer jobs this year, I have more time to focus on life and the world outside of the black boxes. This is a massive and grateful change in my life.
When I review my camera roll, I know I lost a few connections, but I also realise how much I’m loved. People come, move, travel, and leave, but all the intersections are precious. Thank you for bringing the joy to my life. There might be no time to say goodbye, but we have done the best for the moment. No matter if we meet again, I will always remember and keep it at the bottom of my heart.
Some sad things happened in the world this year. I’m not that positive to say it will be better next year, but I hope there will be less pain and hurt. Can’t see the news when I’m so far away and worry alone.
Working in theatre is joyful, and we do what we love. Thank you so much to everyone I worked with this year. I really had a great time and created fun stuff with you.
Not to sugarcoat the industry, we all feel the same. I’m not sure if I should keep pursuing this path, even though everyone told me to hang in there. It’s very difficult to maintain this drowning lifestyle I’ve been talking about this for too long, and it’s time to change. I know that theatre is the way I communicate with myself and the world. It’s the cool language of my younger self. That’s why it’s so difficult to shift.
Visa rules keep changing and changing. I’m not sure how long I will be staying in the UK now. However, I will still be around in 2026 for sure. It’s very exciting that I will have two new shows(technically 3?) in March, and there will be more to come. I know I just said I might drop out from theatre, but please AV check me all the time. My inbox is always open for you. CK is still v excited to create and work in theatre!! Your support and recommendations can help a lot!
There’s a lot to say for 2025, but let’s let it die here. All the successes and mistakes are all settled. Tbh, the wishes I had in the beginning of 2025 are fulfilled. Keep the positive energy, and It’s a brand new journey in 2026. Love you all, let’s go and peace.✌️

Thank you for bringing the joy to my life. There might be no time to say goodbye, but we have done the best for the moment. Some sad things happened in the world this year. I’m not that positive to say it will be better next year, but I hope there will be less pain and hurt. Can’t see the news when I’m so far away and worry alone.

Not to sugarcoat the industry, we all feel the same. I’m not sure if I should keep pursuing this path, even though everyone told me to hang in there. It’s very difficult to maintain this drowning lifestyle I’ve been talking about this for too long, and it’s time to change. I know that theatre is the way I communicate with myself and the world. It’s the cool language of my younger self. That’s why it’s so difficult to shift.
Visa rules keep changing and changing. I’m not sure how long I will be staying in the UK now. However, I will still be around in 2026 for sure. It’s very exciting that I will have two new shows(technically 3?) in March, and there will be more to come. I know I just said I might drop out from theatre, but please AV check me all the time.
