Dijon for Pitchfork

No joke, my top artist on Apple Music for this year is Dijon. Ive listened to Baby an unhealthy amount of times. This zine was so incredibly fun to work on, taking everything I learned from the last three issues to make this one even better. I worked with a few different elements to complement the writing and photography, and also to break some general rules/conventions i had set up for myself in the past zines. I messed with gradients, physical texture, stretching type and a ton of weird curves until I landed on something that we all felt was right on each spread.

For the texture on every page, I printed out the untextured spread, taped tracing paper to the scanner bed, scanned the printouts behind the tracing paper, retouched a bit, and placed those scans in layout.

1. Zine Cover
2. Video flipping through the whole zine
3. Opener spread for the zine
3. pgs. 2-3
4. Reflective Sticker
5. Pitchfork handwritten sketches, (the rico nasty writing was for a video lol)
6. Scanner bed with two sheets of tracing paper attached for practical scanned textures
7. pgs. 4-5
8. pgs. 12-13
9. pgs. 16-17
10. Back cover
11. Sticker close up on “Pitchfork”

RIP Virgil 💚

This was a beast of a feature to work on, but such a fun one to get to design and lay out. I found it so inspiring to get a closer look at the breadth of work Virgil did, the rabbit holes he went down for inspiration, and ultimately what that reveals about who he was andwhat drove his passion and creativity. I absolutely couldn’t have designed this without the expertise and direction from @keirnov and @michael_houtz , and @transtephanie_ who diligently searched through and selected the photos that we used for print!

I worked on the design, custom monoweight headline, layout of the print feature, and I assisted the product teams in translating the print design over to the interactive web archive.

Check it out at any place you can find GQ, or you can check out the interactive archive online now.

How Jay-Z Pushed American Fashion Forward

This was a real beast. So much of our design process was intertwined with the in-depth research on Jay’s visual archive by our Photo Editors, conversations with Edit/Photo about what to highlight in Frazier’s interview, attention to detail by the keen-eyes of our Production and Design teams, and everyone collaborating to explore how to compile all of this into an exciting and rich reading experience for anyone picking up the mag. (All while juggling other fun projects….This was done start-to-finish in the span of 2 weeks) Really could not have brought this to life alone, I’m so grateful for the whole team! 🖤

Introducing drewlitowitz.com

CP: I’ve been a fan of Drew’s work for a long time. Fun fact, I learned After Effects from scratch in his Parsons Motion Design class. As I was developing this site, we collaborated and went back to the drawing board a few times with many sketches for how to hit our one main goal: build a foundation that bolsters the huge variety of Drew’s work, while being digestible and interesting to explore. There are so many types of projects here—from branding, 3d animations, album art, editorial work, campaigns, etc. —and there are so many entry points for someone to end up on the site. Ultimately, we landed on creating a single-page user experience. No complicated site maps and pagination, just one scalable page, that can grow as he continues to make new projects and explores new mediums.

This site was developed with NextJS and Sanity.io. Starting out, I had very little knowledge of TypeScript, just purely vanilla Javascript, HTML, and CSS. Since I began developing it, I’ve gotten to learn a lot more about how so much of the web is built, whether through working out many puzzles of structuring data, querying for that data and presenting it efficiently, or generally finding clever solutions for creating something that just works.

One huge part of the process is something that you’ll never see, the backend with Sanity.io. This is a fully customized CMS with components to support the variety of work Drew may throw on the site. Integrating this seamlessly was simply just a matter of plug-and-play at the start, but as I kept developing the site and implementing new features, it became its own beast that required specifically coded features and components. I’m happy with where we landed here, and that labor was all for an easy way to keep the site fresh and easy to scale. On Drew’s end, it’s a pretty flexible, easy to update experience. Then it’s just a matter of hitting publish, and like magic, a new project populates on the page.

It has been such an honor to work on Drew’s website, and as we send it off for you all to experience for yourselves, I hope you can see the time and carefully considered details we put into the site.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
