Jenny Tufts
⭕️ Circus artist most at home on spinning steel
🌀 Untrained - but enthusiastic - dancer
🏠 Sligo, Ireland
This round of WAKE has been a dream come true: my first time performing in Australia, the place where ten years ago I landed as an au pair who really liked my aerial hobby. 🤓 …To be here and representing Ireland, the place that made me the artist I am today, is special beyond words.
Endlessly grateful to @phillymc and Jenny Jennings for bringing me into the glittering ecstasy of the @thisispopbaby universe, and @aislingcheallaigh for trusting me to do justice to her original role - I can’t think of a higher honor in all the aerial hoop world. 🩶
Thank you to @theluxalma @jaderoxanneoconnor and @adammattmusic whose voices carried this act and made the audience weep every single night. Y’all are the soul of the thing. 🌺
Thank you @ben_moore97 for hauling me up and down with blistered hands but a beaming smile - we nailed it this tour!
Thank you @sydney_festival for believing in our show, the dressing room Tim Tams, and generally facilitating a beautiful experience. And thank you @cultureireland for supporting this tour, and so much Irish art.
There are a billion other people who deserve a mention (including every single member of the cast and crew, some of the warmest, most generous, talented weirdos I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing) - but I think I’m at the character limit.
I can’t wait to see what’s next. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I misjudged a grip height in this performance and ended up dancing the entire final sequence with about 30% of the rotational speed I’d intended to have - mortifying in the moment, but in retrospect I kinda dig the dreamlike quality… ☁️
From November at @roscommonartscentre filmed by @olgakuzmenko_photography 🩶
Heart too full and brain too sleepy for captions - but it’s a goddamn honor to be here, spinning with the most glorious pack of brave and beautiful weirds we could have hoped for. ❤️ #FullCircle2025 @rachelstricklandcreative @sweetretreatsmx

Introducing our fourth artist on the night @circlecirque with ‘Mornings’
Mornings is a work-in-progress that Jenny hopes will feature in her nascent show How to Have Fun as an Adult (set to premiere in 2027). It utilizes a spinning platform to embody chaos roiling under outer calm, the dancer fighting a storm of centrifugal force while standing still. It aims to visually and somatically represent the creeping overwhelm many people - but particularly femme-conditioned, anxious people - experience in the face of the relentless repetitive demands of 'successful' adulthood. Sound design by Alma Kelliher

Jenny Tufts is an American-born, Sligo-based movement artist specialising in aerial dance. Internationally known for her choreographic innovation on aerial hoop and spiral, Jenny has performed with a medley of circus/theatre companies including Fidget Feet (IE) THISISPOPBABY (IE), Fool’s Delight (UK), Disneyland Paris (FR), Mignon (DE), and Le Monastère (CA), among many others. While her comfort zone is above the stage, Jenny happily dabbles in any movement discipline she can get her calloused hands on: she knows her way around a hula hoop, and she can absolutely deadlift you. She is currently developing her first solo-authored, full-length show: How to Have Fun as an Adult.

We already miss everybody and feel emotional just watching this video, the vibes this weekend were incredible.
It was great seeing people making new friends and sharing their passion for aerial hoop, and being super brave learning new skills.
Big thank you to @vane_lunatica and @circlecirque for joining me as instructors for this camp.
Not only are they wonderful artists and teachers, but also kind and warm souls.
Thank you to our small hard working team Neil and @v_isfor_victoria. And of course the special guests and stars of the show Mac and Lilly 🐾🐾

Love @lisettekrol ❤️
Stick around til the drop to see my biggest aerial oopsie of 2026 so far 💀 …my left knee is totally fine thanks to a combination of obsessive strength training and pure dumb luck 😅🍀 but we’re learning! Ms. Frizzle would be proud.

It won’t surprise a single person who knows @flyingmichelleanne that she inspired me to try this 😘 …surprisingly comfortable after a year of @perform.athlete conditioning! @chloe.commins shall we try on your new 3m rope? 👀
Delighted with this twisty tangle cooked up over my last two lunch breaks here in @ballinaartscentre ⭕️ The @undercurrentperformance crew are working hard toward next week’s premiere at Roscommon Arts Centre - come see what we’ve been weaving? 🧶
Not my best go ever at this elbow-shredding little ditty, but @helenwelsh28 and I did have the craic wrestling with it today.
Dancing to @phoenomusic wearing @biencaton - supporting independent artists wherever possible 🩶
