We are so excited to introduce Cody O'connor (@codygrl ) as the first of our line-up for 'From the Land We Grow'!
Cody is a really excited London-based fashion writer and documentary maker, and her film offers a timely exploration of social media in regards to fast fashion and sustainability.
'Why Buy?' @whybuyfilm is a short documentary that investigates the connection between social media use and online shopping. Inspired by the presenter’s experience of being bombarded by marketing on Instagram and TikTok, 'Why Buy?' asks other young women - from fashion professionals, to sustainability activists - to share their thoughts and offer solutions.
'Why Buy?' explores how living in a consumer society can impact our habits and the way we view sustainability, while also demonstrating alternative ways to make and acquire clothes, such as upcycling and using swap shops.
