Dr. Daniel Renouf highlights the three elements that come together to drive better outcomes at BC Cancer.
Together, we’re changing what’s possible for patients across the province.
This World Pancreatic Cancer Day, we’re shining a bright light on someone who embodies strength, passion and unstoppable dedication: Dan Fine.
As the race director of the @craigscausecan Kicking PancreAS 5K, Dan transformed this event from a small gathering of 40 participants into a powerful, community-driven movement of 400 runners and walkers, raising an incredible $102,000 for pancreatic cancer research and support.
After his own diagnosis earlier this year, Dan experienced firsthand the compassionate, expert care from his BC Cancer team. Instead of stepping back, he stepped up and turned his journey into fuel for change. Rallying partners like the BC Cancer Foundation and the Vancouver @whitecapsfc, Dan created a night where “lights on, hearts full, music loud” wasn’t just a slogan — it was a promise.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest cancers to face. Survival rates remain low, but advances in early detection and new treatments offer growing hope. Today, we honour the courage of those diagnosed, the resilience of families and caregivers and the champions like Dan who are helping push research forward.
