Meet Ri Lindegren in a decade plus dance and film career flashback of the photos we could easily find...

Ri is the founder of Dances With Tech. She created it to offer high quality video documentation for the performing arts, specializing in two camera shoots of shows, events, and profile pieces. She also thrives in sharing her love of media through education.

The Bio:
For a long time the only way you could catch Ri was in constant motion. She leaped across artistic, academic, and technological disciplines as a dancer, freelance videographer, cultural anthropology and gender studies nerd, arts administrator, and arts advocate. In 2021 Ri received her M.F.A. in Dance & Interdisciplinary Digital Media & Performance (Arizona State University), where she taught courses on Intro to Dance, Modern Dance I, Yoga, and numerous dance and technology workshops. Ri spent a year as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance & Media at ASU where she loved working with students to build their dance filmmaking, media installation, and choreographing with media skills.

Ri continued her 200 HR YTT education through the Resonance Yoga Mentorship Program with Jacoby Ballard, and is currently becoming ISMETA certified in the Somatic Groundwork method by Kaila June Kellikuli. She enjoys leading age-specific and intergenerational opportunities for creativity, movement, play, and digital literacy in community and educational spaces.

Ri specializes in virtual and live embodied social somatic experiences across movement genres and building immersive physical spaces that support imagination and wellness.

When Ri isn't filming, editing, teaching, or producing events, you can find her dancing House, Contemporary, Contact Improv, and climbing. Ri enjoys facilitating classes that are adapted to meet the needs of the students in the space, and seeks to support students in deepening their ability to listen and trust their own bodies.

Ri strives to develop classes that are accessible, trauma-informed, body-positive, culturally-aware, and rooted in the connection between breath, body, and mind.

How have cameras shaped your world? How does your gear reflect the possibilities of what you can create?

I’ve been reflecting on how much my creative life has shifted through the cameras I’ve held, and how each chapter of Dances With Tech has been shaped by the tools I had access to.

Swipe to see a little arc of that evolution:

📸 DanceTheRoof, NYC
Three summers, three rooftops, dancers + videographers learning beside each other. My Sony A6000 (my first “better” camera) taught me how to move with the dancers, not just film them.

📸 “Look into My Voice, Hear My Dance”
Documenting Sumana Sen Mandala’s MFA thesis project about survivors of sexual assault deepened my commitment to hold stories with care. I filmed the performance and created four dance films using the A6000 and a Pro 4K Sony camcorder, and learned so many new skills along the way.

📸 Current Gear
My Sony A7C with a Tamron lens, one of the two cameras I now use for multi-angle shoots, performance documentation, and the workshops I lead.

📸 Holding Space for the Future
A moment from a 2024 dance film workshop — imagining what comes next.

Each camera holds a chapter of growth: more clarity, more skill, more responsibility, and a deeper commitment to uplifting artists with the best tools I could access at the time.

And now, it’s time for a new chapter.

I’m building the Camera Collaborative Fund to upgrade Dances With Tech’s core gear so I can keep supporting the performing arts, small businesses, and creatives of all kinds with higher-quality tools...and offer artists hands-on access to pro equipment in workshops.

✨ Better equipment → stronger performance documentation
✨ Better lenses → richer detail + dynamic range
✨ Cinema-level bodies → more possibilities for dance film & documentation
✨ Better tools → better support for the community I serve

This is a values-led way to support this next phase of my work.

If you’re curious, there’s a small link in my bio. 🌱 Feel free to share.

Happy to support the work of @ccdr_collections_asu yesterday for International Dance Day - filming dances that originated in India, Mexico, France, and more, as well as here on Turtle Island. Live performances as well as a dance film & documentary, student exhibitions, and even some samosa snacks!

Did you know that the CCDR is one of only SEVEN dance archives? So much dance in the world, and yet we have so few places cultivating and holding space to remember dance history. Go check out CCDR at @asumusicdancetheatre and learn some new things, or donate to support their work.

I appreciate how @taichishan is examining and broadening the scope of how we think of cultural and ethnic forms of dance from a cross-cultural perspective.

Most fun part? The group line dance at the end :) Catch the last clip for a sneak peek.

What a dream come true to document four local Phoenix choreographers at @scottsdalearts this past weekend as part of the incredible HOMEGROWN show.

This was a 2 camera shoot that Ri decided day of to use another set of cameras as backup (just in case...) so we have 4 cameras of footage for two different angles (wide and tracking).

Thank you for the opportunity to film local professional dance artists (@alicia.nascimentocastro@hankjimenex @methodsofmadnessdancetheater @lilianalupe by locals (Dances With Tech).

We can't wait to show you the results (hang tight.. there are a few big editing projects in process!)

It was also a busy weekend filming @nvaadance and a family interview for another client. Thank you for choosing Dances With Tech so we can help each other thrive!

There are so many incredible dance events happening around town over the next month! Grab your ticket to a show!

The hardest part is getting started. Jump into a supportive, fun, guided dance filmmaking lab and to get those ideas rolling!

1 week away:
Sat April 18th
9am-12pm
Downtown Phoenix, AZ

We will gather in a local coffee shop and use the neighborhood as our playground to try on ideas for dance films - ideas, shots, movement.

Whether you've made hundreds of dance films, or are unsure how to pick up a camera, the only requirement is that you are prepared to dance with and in front of the camera.

Geared towards but not limited to dancers who've been dancing for a while, come dance with cameras next Saturday!

I've spent 10 minutes trying to find the right words to describe the last 2 days on this truly kind and collaborative film set.

It was such a joy to have the opportunity to be a camera operator on an FX6 cinema camera (with a great DP and 1st AC!) on a deeply meaningful project written and directed by the incredible @vincentrutley - a short film that brought together folks of different abilities to be funny, irreverent, and create their own mischief. FOLLOW -> @nhw_shortfilm_2026

I appreciated how much care was offered to the talent, cast, and crew on this all volunteer film set throughout the shoot.

Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this, to stretch out of my filmmaking comfort zone (I learned so much), and to live in a little pocket of creative joy for this tiny sliver of time. Thanks to The AZ Dance Experience for offering film opportunities.

Here are some quick snaps from my phone camera bts.

You have a dance film idea. Or a question. Or a feeling you keep circling.

But you’re waiting.....for the right gear, the right time, the right conditions…

What if you didn’t?

This Dance Filmmaking Prototyping Lab is about testing ideas now.

In 3 hours, we’ll:
• clarify what you’re making + why
• map simple, filmable shots
• run short outdoor filming experiments

Not polished scenes. Not pressure. Just real-time discovery.

This is for professional dancers ready to explore how movement + camera + environment actually work together.

April 18 | 9am–12pm
Dark Hall Coffee (Phoenix)
10 spots - RSVP required

Come experiment. Leave with direction.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
