Running can break your heart sometimes. You can pour every ounce of yourself into the sport—the endless miles, the early mornings, the sacrifices few will ever see—and still come up short. It’s a harsh truth: running owes us nothing. No guarantees, no promises.

But that’s also where its beauty lies. In those moments of disappointment, we’re given a choice. We can carry the weight of what didn’t go our way, or we can detach from it, step back, and reframe how we want to respond. We learn to accept the lows, not as failures, but as part of the process—part of the privilege of pursuing something so relentlessly.

These are the lessons I’ve taken from handling my first real running injury these past months. Because no matter how hard it gets, we know one thing: we will rise again. Stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever. The journey is long, with no clear “end”—but that’s exactly what makes it worthwhile.

WESTERN STATES 100

My legs are destroyed, my heart is still beaming. It wasn’t a dream this past weekend…I did, in fact, run the Western States 100.

I gave it everything I had. I scraped the bottom of the well and found more perseverance than I knew was possible. I came into the race feeling more joy and gratitude than I’ve ever felt, which I did my best to maintain with each step I took. Since Miwok 100k in May, I’ve been doing the work to reflect on what I’ve been through and overcome, what matters the most to me, and why I love this sport so much. Whenever those feelings started to wane, I would audibly remind myself and the runners around me that “HOLY SH*%, WE’RE RUNNING WESTERN STATES RIGHT NOW.”

Above all, it’s the community that is magic. The organizers, the legends, the volunteers, those helping, cheering, running. I’ve experienced this race in every way from volunteering, crewing, pacing, and now, officially as a finisher. Being a part of something this special is hard to put into words.

I can’t thank my crew and pacers enough for getting me to the finish line. Supporting runners in a 100-mile race requires dedication and sacrifice, and my team kept me moving strong for a full day and two sunrises. I can’t thank you enough.

For now, I’m looking forward to a clear schedule and a time to mentally and physically reset. I’m thankful for my amazingly talented photographer friends who were out all day and capturing the moments, which I will revisit often. These are only some of my favorite photos and I will post more as the weeks go on.

Thank you everyone for giving me so much love this weekend all over the world…I have so many messages to catch up on! Thank you to everyone along the course, from the party up the Escarpment at the start, to the Rucky Chucky aid station singing me “Happy Birthday”, to the absolute entourage running me in to the end. Above most, THANK YOU @sfrunco for this opportunity.

I feel like the luckiest man alive to be able to do this on my birthday. I can’t believe this is my life.

DNF. First one ever.

Gutted. But those early miles: running in the dark out of Cascade Locks, waterfalls appearing out of nowhere, chatting with @tonywithasony …the Gorge is something else.

I put some thoughts into words on my Substack, including what’s next and some history on why this course earns your respect whether you finish or not (link in bio)

For episode three of Local Lines I spent the evening with Bay Area legend @davidtlam up on his favorite local line. If you’ve ever been to a trail race in the Bay Area you’ll probably recognize David. If he’s not racing himself, he’s out there cheering on friends and connecting people in the community. We’re lucky to have this guy in our city.

Local Lines is a personal filmmaking project built on a simple rule:
shoot, edit, and publish within 24 hours. (Sorry this one was a couple hours late)
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s freedom.
This series is about creating without overthinking, spending time outdoors, learning from interesting people, and sharing meaningful places as they are, in the moment.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible.
