“We wanted to mark our debut as a director duo in a way that felt true to our hearts. And coming from a background of dance, the dream was always to shoot choreography on film. The honest texture in the image combined with the open gate really allows the choreography to breathe within the frame, which was really important for a project like this. It was like the whole crew was synchronized in one dance, and with that synergy, we managed to land many of the shots in a single take.

In many ways, “Aka to Shiro” also represents us as filmmakers. The film sits right at the intersection of the things that inspire us the most, movement, visual storytelling, and emotional narrative.
