In collaboration with Text my Sister, new exhibition 𝘖𝘯 𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 opens its door next week. On Thursday 14 May from 19.00 the spaces become a juncture of 80s cassette-sets, textile truth telling and disassociative audiovisual fragments. The exhibition will be opened with an introduction by curators Julia Fidder & Xenia Tsompanidou.

In samenwerking met Text my Sister opent volgende week de nieuwe tentoonstelling 𝘖𝘯 𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 haar deuren. Op donderdag 14 mei (Hemelvaartsdag) is de ruimte vanaf 19.00 gevuld met 80s cassettesets, textiele interventies en audiovisuele fragmenten. De tentoonstelling wordt geopend met een inleiding door curatoren Julia Fidder & Xenia Tsompanidou.

Nog meer Rianne! Ons seizoen 25/26 in het Cenakel is weliswaar afgelopen, maar er staan tot en met juni nog een aantal coole performances op het programma.

Op donderdag 14 mei houden we voor het eerst een Reflex in het charmante Van Abbehuis (@vanabbehuis) in Eindhoven. Rianne Wilbers (@riannewilbers) siert er de vernissage op van de nieuwe expo Re-evaluating Value. Aansluitend DJ's. Wees welkom vanaf 19.00 tot een uur of 22.00 - bij lekker weer gaan we de tuin in.

More Rianne! Although our 25/26 season at the Cenakel has come to an end, we still have a number of cool performances lined up through June.

On Thursday, May 14, we’re hosting our very first Reflex at the charming Van Abbehuis in Eindhoven. Rianne Wilbers will be featured during the opening (vernissage) of the new exhibition Re-evaluating Value. DJs will follow afterwards.

Voor het jubileum van TilburgsAns maakt Stadscomponist Nicoline Soeter samen met percussioniste Inês Lacerda (@neslacerda) een nieuwe compositie, toepasselijk 'Sans titre'. Een oude mechanische typemachine vormt de basis, de herinnering aan een tijd waarin elke letter bewust werd aangeslagen, hoorbaar en tastbaar. De typemachine is echter niet alleen een hulpmiddel om tekst te produceren, tussen de toetsen en hamers komt iets anders tot leven. Het wordt een speelse, licht absurdistische muzikale compositie, waarbij Inês zich ontpopt als een haast bezeten typiste.

For the anniversary of TilburgsAns, City Composer Nicoline Soeter is creating a new composition together with percussionist Inês Lacerda (@neslacerda), aptly titled “Sans titre.” An old mechanical typewriter forms the basis of the piece—a reminder of a time when every letter was struck deliberately, audible and tangible. Yet the typewriter is not only a tool for producing text; something else comes to life between the keys and hammers. The result will be a playful, slightly absurdist musical composition, in which Inês transforms into an almost possessed typist.

De twee voormalige Tilburgse stadscomponisten Anthony Fiumara (@anthony_fiumara) en Mathijs Leeuwis (@mathijsleeuwis) maken als elektronisch duo nieuwe muziek voor en met twee slagwerkers van HIIIT (@hiiit_music). Tijdens WO I en II werden kerkklokken op grote schaal omgesmolten tot wapens. Voor het nieuwe werk Battles & Silences werd juist een kerkklok gegoten van lege kogelhulzen, verzameld aan de Oekraïense frontlinie. Een sinister onderwerp, maar een hoopvolle omkering van zaken.

Former Tilburg city composers Anthony Fiumara (@anthony_fiumara) and Mathijs Leeuwis (@mathijsleeuwis), working as an electronic duo, are creating new music together with two percussionists from HIIIT (@hiiit_music). During World War I and II, church bells were melted down en masse to make weapons. For their new work Battles & Silences, a church bell was cast from spent bullet casings collected at the Ukrainian frontline—a sinister subject, but a hopeful reversal of fate.

A theatrical concert exploring the boundaries between sound and language. You Speak In Tongues was truly beautiful last Tuesday, and our in-house photographer captured the moment. Het Concreet welcomes Didianne Leusink, selected through an open call in collaboration with Intro in Situ and De Link.

In 2026, Leusink will work in the studio across a series of sessions, developing her ongoing research into listening as a relational condition—emerging through contact between bodies, materials, and temporalities. Her glass-blown records, marked by bubbles, warping, and irregular grooves, displace the logic of playback and foreground the sonic agency of matter itself.

At Het Concreet, these records enter into dialogue with tape and other analog systems. Not as instruments to be controlled, but as sites of resistance, inscription, and co-articulation. Through slow processes of recording and live manipulation, the work unfolds as an inquiry into how sound is produced across material thresholds.

Outcomes will be presented in Heerlen during Cultura Nova (August 28 - September 6) and Tilburg during Tracking Tilburg (November 28).

Haar glasgeblazen platen, met luchtbellen, kleine vervormingen en onregelmatige groeven, zorgen voor onverwachte klanken en laten zien hoe het materiaal zelf een rol speelt in het geluid.

Bij Het Concreet onderzoekt ze hoe deze platen kunnen samenwerken met tape en andere analoge systemen. Niet als instrumenten die je helemaal kunt beheersen, maar als materialen die hun eigen karakter en weerstand laten horen. Door opnemen, live bewerken en experimenteren ontstaat een uniek klankonderzoek.

De resultaten zijn te horen in Maastricht tijdens Cultura Nova (28 augustus – 6 september) en in Tilburg tijdens Tracking Tilburg (28 november).
