Shifting the grain of the night, King Softy (@deep__softy ) premiers a live set folding ambient blur, downtempo inflected rhythms and post-noir ambience into tactile, low-lit electronics.

Berlin-based and New Zealand-born, Amos Turner works across ambient, IDM and experimental club forms with a deep sensitivity to texture, narrative and the physical weight of sound. His releases as King Softy, including Traverse Mode, HAIRCLIP and Scanners Plateau, sit between DJing, sound design and process-led composition.

A resident at Berlin listening bar kwia, Turner has refined this language through mixes for 3XL, Living Room, Pleasure Gallery and Hi-Fi Sci-Fi, treating voice, pacing and atmosphere as compositional tools. His work behind the Appendix.files (@appendix.files ) imprint carries the same sensibility into experimental releases and interdisciplinary formats.

Next week, tix in bio 💫

Divergence invites you to a kaleidoscopic night of ambient at The Flying Duck.

.ೃ࿔ carnac and memory cairn (@o.vvi & @c_70b ) open by easing the room into another pace, where drone, resonance and overtone gather slowly softening the edges of the evening. Far Lane (@jackjoshualindsay ) follows live, carrying the space into lighter air, where melody arrives in passing and pulse stays just beneath the surface.

.ೃ࿔ King Softy (@deep__softy ) then shifts the grain of the night with a live set shaped as much by sequence as by sound, threading abstract beatwork, blur and tactile textures through the room. To close, Nueen (@nueen___ ) brings a live A/V performance where atmospheric depth, melodic detail and rhythmic tension move together in a set that feels expansive, sonically curious and full of emotional pull.

.ೃ࿔ Settle into a night where the world falls back and sound makes room for thought, feeling and the sense of leaving quietly altered.

Neu addition to our mix series, this time from the one and only King Softy.

006 : King Softy

Amos Turner[he/him/Amos], aka KING SOFTY, is a Berlin-based multi-hyphenate from Aotearoa, New Zealand. The pillars of their practice are music, graphic design and creative direction. As a musician, Turner produces and DJs as KING SOFTY, moving effortlessly between ambient, downtempo, IDM and techno with a point of view inspired by the physical heft of soundsystem culture. Alongside their own productions and DJ sets, Turner is a co-founder of INDEX:Records (est. 2017), an equally open-eared Glasgow record label, and the avant-garde club sub-label, Appendix.Files.

KING SOFTY’s contribution to our mix series sits in an interzone equal parts historical education, narrative storytelling and slow-burning dancefloor pleasure. In a sense, there are echoes of how the late great Paradise Garage resident DJ Larry Levan would sequence songs to tell a larger story through their vocals, or Terre Thaemlitz, aka DJ Sprinkles’s use of voice-overs and interview clips at work here. Buoyed by a dreamy melange of chuggy dub techno, trip-hop, 2-step, footwork, and abstract club deconstructions, KING SOFTY’s offering blurs the lines between DJ mix and composition. In the process, he uses music to take us on a dynamic journey through sound, subculture and the emotions that come with the highs and lows of living unapologetically as you are during the best and worst of times.

The “Minimal Footwork” scene—pioneered in Japan by artists such as D.J.Fulltono and CRZKNY—has been making waves worldwide. Among the DJs on Poland’s influential outlines label, one who stands out with a uniquely danceable, tech- and bass-driven style that has captured the attention of the EU and UK scenes is DJ Strawberry from Germany.

Following a world tour two years ago and three consecutive releases last year, he now returns with his highly anticipated new EP “Straight, forward”, dropping this September on the Tokyo-based label Kool Switch Works. The record features three brand-new originals alongside remixes by some of the most exciting names in the global juke/footwork community.

You can now listen to the first single off King Softy’s debut album, entitled ‘Scanner’s Plateau’ (EM009).

‘Miro’s Cat’ by @deep__softy feat. @spivakmaria

"A project grounded in hazy and stripped back fundamentals, ‘Miro’s Cat’ opens with fizzed out drums under Spivak’s hazy and ethereal vocal work to lay bare a narrative nostalgia awash with melancholic lounge-aestheticism."

Pre-order the album on Bandcamp and listen to the single on all major streaming platforms.

Release date: 21.11.24

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
