Sometimes our #FridaysAtUniversals are not about performance or popularity but just for @ferzad and me….Plush” by The Stone Temple Pilots aka @stpband was always one of those haunting songs about emotional loss, confusion, and the darkness that sits beneath relationships. And Scott Weiland, for me, remains one of the truly unforgettable frontmen of that era. His passing still feels incredibly sad.

This is one of those songs. Though it released in 1993, right around the time my first band Orion was around, it became one of the tracks we constantly played because it connected instantly with people around us.

In the early days of Seattle grunge and alternative metal, songs like this made a massive impact on all of us growing up around rock music.

This is my second Grammys nomination as a producer & holding the certificate for #TheSoundsOfKumbha in my hands brought back so many memories, so many people, so many moments from this journey.

I honestly don’t think any of us knew when we started making this album where it would eventually go. We were just a group of people from different worlds, different backgrounds, different sounds and sensibilities, coming together because we believed in something pure. Something honest.

And somehow, that honesty travelled.

It travelled further than any of us could have imagined. I have been fortunate to work on so much music over the years, but this felt different from the very beginning. There was something deeply spiritual and emotional about watching artists from different parts of India and the world come together to celebrate heritage, roots, lineage, and identity through music. And while there was no formula to this I have to give the biggest shout out the real reason behind this incredible piece of work, my brother & partner @siddhantbhatia.

This was his passion, our faith and people giving pieces of themselves to create something meaningful. That coming together was just beautiful to witness and feel.

Of course, a small part of me wishes we had won.
But truthfully, tonight I’m mostly feeling grateful.
Grateful to every artist on this album.
Grateful to every musician, producer, engineer, creative, marketer, partner, and team member who worked endlessly behind the scenes. Grateful to everyone who believed this music deserved to be heard. A lot of heart went into this project. A lot of sleepless nights. A lot of sacrifice. A lot of love.

And I think people everywhere felt that.

Here’s the 3rd glorious one from season 4 of @cokestudiobharat and it’s really really really going deep into the roots of our culture. I’m not sure how many of you know what a kajri is so I’m gonna explain it briefly. Kajri is a traditional folk music form from eastern Uttar Pradesh and parts of Bihar, especially regions like Banaras, Mirzapur, Jaunpur, and Bhojpur and deeply tied to the monsoon. And importantly, kajri is not just romantic longing. It can also carry social grief, migration, displacement, devotion, even quiet rebellion.

So @khwaab.music ‘s #KachaudiGali with @utpaludit & my fav @rekha_bhardwaj ji is a powerful song that remembers & reminds us what history forgot.

Set against the haunting backdrop of the First Anglo Burmese War, this is not the story of empires, victories, borders, or battlefields. It is the story of absence. Of silence left behind in a home. Of a woman standing in a narrow lane of Banaras, watching her world being taken away from her.
Her husband is pulled into a war that is not his. Marched out from Mirzapur under the command of the British Army. Sent across dark waters to Rangoon. A soldier without choice. A man taken not by destiny, but by empire. And she is left behind.

Not with patriotism.
Not with glory.
But with rage that burns quietly inside everyday life.

Through her voice, the war stops feeling distant. It becomes unbearably intimate. The empty courtyard. The untouched doorway. The unanswered waiting. The unbearable normalcy of a city continuing to breathe while one life collapses in silence.

Kachaudi Gali carries the ache of those forgotten families who paid the price for colonial wars they never chose. It reminds us that the deepest scars of history are often not carved on battlefields, but inside homes.

There are some songs you love. And then there are some songs that somehow become part of your life.
“Leaving on a Jet Plane” has always been that song for me.

@johndenvermusic wrote it back in 1966, and even today, it still carries the same feeling every single time you hear it. It’s one of the easiest songs to sit down and play. But emotionally, it’s one of the hardest songs to really sing well. Because unless you feel the loneliness, warmth, sadness and hope inside it, you can’t fake your way through the song. That’s what great songwriting does.

And then years later, I heard @chantalkreviazuk13 version of it, which completely stayed with me in a different way altogether. Soft, intimate, beautiful. One of those rare covers that doesn’t replace the original, but somehow sits beside it and becomes equally memorable.

Ever since then, I’ve always wanted us to do this song on Fridays at Universal. And of course we had to do it for our brother and permanent #FridaysAtUniversal partner @myriadmyopia behind the camera, because he absolutely loves this song too.
