A deli that serves financial products instead of food. Currency notes layered as cold cuts. Coins sliced like cucumber. Office paper shredded into lettuce. Post-its hole-punched into Swiss cheese. Bread shaped like a piggy bank. Rulers hung where the knives should be.

The brief: compare financial products at one address. The film: paid the brief off in every frame.

At the Good Ads Matter Roundtable with India’s Top 1% Directors, Vijay Sawant @vijaysawant.design, Co-founder & Director at Hungry Films @hungry.films, shares an intense on-set experience that stayed with him as a director.

He shares a stressful incident during a shoot when an extremely expensive camera was accidentally damaged. What followed, however, was equally important. The producer on set, Dharam Valia @dharamv, Co founder and Executive Producer at Hungry Films @hungry.films, handled the situation with calm and composure, allowing the shoot to move forward without panic.

The story reminds us that challenges are part of filmmaking, and the right support system can make all the difference.

Vijay Swant has directed award-winning work for brands like ICICI Lombard, Coca-Cola, Kia and Unacademy, with recognitions at the Good Ads Matter Awards 2025, Cannes Lions, D&AD and beyond. He has also designed the Good Ads Matter Awards trophy, bringing his creative legacy full circle.
