Why did I write this book? It wasn’t to revel in our success or even to tell Discovery’s story – it was because I became obsessed with a question sparked by an obscure conference in Palm Beach, Florida, in the 90s. That question – and the years that followed in pursuit of answering it – is the backbone of this book.
