I've been watching a few of @slewp 's art challenge videos and getting inspired, and was reminded of a what a fun medium oil pastels are!

One of my recent (and long-standing) hyperfixations has been knitting. The tactility and portability of the medium really appeal to me. Last summer I had a dream of knitting all through autumn and winter, and I did!
This is the Fish Hat [Dead or Alive] by Thelma Egberts, a pattern from 2008. A project I made using thrifted yarns, knitted while I was visiting my sister, and I think now that trip is woven into the rows of this knitwear.
Knitting has become a big part how I spend my free time and I'm endlessly impressed by its benefits on my mental health. For anyone who has been curious about fibre arts, I encourage you to try it!
I was also supposed to add eyes to this pattern, but coincidentally I have every colour felt except for white, so that'll come later.

‘Tool’ is the first of a new series of Maker Stories from Tactology Lab 3, which took place in 2025.

Ilya: “I think Tactology Lab is about experimenting, exploring and collaborating. It’s really interesting how you can bring so many different creative people from very different backgrounds and the unique perspectives that they bring together, to create one kind of project that also encompasses so many different parts. You’re creating instruments, but you’re also creating a performance, you’re also creating sound; and merging all of these you get to learn so much.”
