Look up the @SashaVelour Travesty tour right now and see if you are anywhere near where the show is headed. I'm incredibly jealous of every audience that is experiencing this stunning exploration of time, space and queer experiences across them.

For these fans, Sasha shared an incredible concept and a fierce sketch from @kelseysshorts. They needed to be big wings with lots of fuzziness and texture as well as danceable and travelable. Had I not recently did an amazing "sinasilk" workshop with @maorzabarhats, I have no idea how I would've supported all the tiny feathers to create the intricate detail. Special thanks to my guys at @coating.specialties_3311 for the quick turn. And I'm especially thankful to have found @ericmmmguy -- a talented stitcher who had instant intuition with the feathers and endless patience over the 94 hours we shared nearly equally on this project. 

I'm honored to have had the opportunity to help give this concept wings. Cheers to much continued success throughout the Travesty tour and beyond!

These red and gold feathers had been with @missjoliepapillon for many years. On difficult staves, she got them over to me for a conversion onto my newer tulip stave style. Kicking myself for not taking a before photo to show how worth it this move was. These feathers were definitely worth another chance on better staves!

Here’s a little example of what I’ve been working on the shop the past couple of weeks- I made a last minute decision to upgrade my costume for this act and wanted to give it some special features - being able to go hands free and attach my fans to the costume, a trick reveal corset, and a smoking bra with removable cups. I also had to unexpectedly rebuild my feather fans (huge thank you to @donna.touch for the staves!). At times, this was an engineering nightmare there was also trick reveal skirt I wasn’t able to get to function properly in time for the show- but it all came together in the end for @milehighburlesquefest ! Huge thank you to @cora_vette for having me! You always put on such a great fest! I hope to get to bring this act out again very soon! (Psst- book me!)

Thank you @isa_isdancing @jscheuch we had so much fun shooting our extensive vintage @fredericksofhollywood exhibition set to launch in September at @ecdysiastartsmuseum over the last 17 years of picking with @americanpickers I have been honored to collect some truly rare gems. This collection is one of my all time favorites. There was Wide accessibility to the product yet so few examples remain in excellent condition. I think it may be because the brand was so accessible and wearable that the buyers wore them quite a lot, knowing that it was affordable to replace them. By the time it came to replace them it was a new season to buy a fresh Fredericks look. This was fast fashion in making.In the 1970’s many production companies were outsourced as the idea of repeating an outfit was largely considered faux pas. If a person wanted to be socially relevant it was going to require lots of fashion and fast! Not to mention affordable…. Developing countries were cheaper labor resources with fewer union standards to contend with. This is how fast fashion took over in the 1970’s and 80’s. Before that, so much was made in smaller local lots, supporting local economies and much more made by hand in home, saving money but not time. This rare, excellent condition, Frederick’s of Hollywood, 1970’s flame sequin collar, cherry bomb red, coffin dress took off like wildfire in the 70’s through the 1980’s.Did your irresponsible auntie have this dress? I clearly remember the first time I saw a lady in a FOH coffin dress… I was forever changed😍

@ditavonteese gave me the awesome honor and challenge to create fans for one of her iconic acts currently on tour again!

The majority of the feathers were from from a set Dita had performed with and loved for many years. <No pressure, right?!> The staves are a new structure with custom cutouts. I've heard from friends that have seen the show that Dita floats lovely with them and the little ponies can be seen into the balcony. Squee!!
