“It was illegal. You could get caught and get into all kinds of trouble.”

Deep Dish share the story behind their house classic ‘Flashdance’, recalling the moment that sparked a global hit. After renting the film Flashdance on a Betamax tape, Dubfire and Sharam began reimagining ‘He’s a Dream’, an earworm from the soundtrack. The final result would go on to debut in the UK charts and become one of Deep Dish’s most loved releases.

Deep Dish share the story behind their 2005 house hit ‘Flashdance’ 💡

The Grammy-winning duo, Dubfire and Sharam, discuss their early careers, enduring friendship, and the making of one of their most-loved releases.

‘Flashdance’ was conceived by Sharam after hearing ‘He’s a Dream’ in the 1983 film, Flashdance. After playing it out, they realised they had something special and headed to the studio to finalise the track with vocalist Anousheh Khalili, creating a record that went on to debut in the UK Singles Chart.

I’ve been a fan of @amirali_ofc for a long time, so it feels especially meaningful to welcome him to @scitec_official.

Beyond being an incredible producer, there’s also that shared Iranian heritage which makes this moment resonate even more for me. It feels like the right time to support and amplify the voices of fellow Persian artists pushing things forward globally.

After a period exploring more left-field and experimental territories while completing his second album, Amirali has returned to the dancefloor with a renewed focus and clarity. “Radiance” captures that energy perfectly. It’s a release that reconnects with the core of what drew him - and many of us - to electronic music in the first place.

His background as a classically trained pianist, combined with his work as a live instrumentalist and songwriter, brings a level of depth and musicality that’s hard to fake. There’s a real sense of space and intention in everything he does.

The title track, “Radiance”, carries that classical DNA but channels it into something bold and forward-facing; melodic, driving, and emotionally charged.

On the flip side, “Two Horizons Collide” dives into darker territory. It feels cinematic and dystopian, but there’s also a sense of transformation running through it; like tension and hope coexisting in the same moment.

With a journey that’s taken him from his acclaimed album ‘In Time’ to stages like Berghain and even the Vienna Opera House, Amirali now steps into this next chapter with serious momentum, and I’m proud to have him as part of the SCI+TEC family.
