First off, absolute hats off to folks working in post production, it’s tedious AF and even the most state of the art software is so user-unfriendly it’s criminal.

I shied away from every software but editing so far and as horrible as it sounds, I’m only ever gonna aspire to create anything worthwhile when a goddamn mouse is replaced by a 3-dimensional VR interface.

This non-original patchwork was a day’s toil and it’s nowhere near anything good so anyone who can create quality work in UE is a hero, let alone the world’s most patient geniuses who can model photorealistic environments. #previs #UnrealEngine #VP #virtualproduction

Jacksepticeye’s gameplay of Davey Wreden’s The Beginner’s Guide is a masterclass in metastory, even though it’s not metafiction.

Davey Wreden created an overnight success game, The Stanley Parable, but wasn’t ready for the pressure of the public eye and the impeding expectation for his next best thing. Out of his fears, The Beginner’s Guide was born. @jacksepticeye played that game, I watched that gameplay and my view on storytelling will never be the same again.

Worth a watch for all writers who want to hone their craft of narrative structure.

All throughout my 20s’ I kept pushing myself to do more, stay awake, focus harder, be productive, and it was all driven by the ache that I ‘haven’t achieved enough yet and I should be much further ahead in life’.

I had a complete burnout in 2019, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and it took me years to restore a healthy relationship with my body and listen to its signs when it tells me what it needs.

Naps are wonderful. Sunshine is a battery charger. Unstructured time with nothing planned is the rich void that every creative needs, to be able to connect the subconscious dots in novel, innovative ways.

Discipline does not equal senseless overworking. The body knows when its foundations are shaky, when the emotional muscles are weak and guilt ridden, and when the spirit is dampened by the fear of not being good enough. That’s when exhaustion hits to put a break on self-abuse and start the healing process.

Undeniably catchy — ‘Machiavelli For Women: Defend Your Worth, Grow Your Ambition, and Win the Workplace’, is a book by Stacey Vanek Smith about gender pay gap, conscious and unconscious bias against women and mothers at the workplace, and a plethora of ingrained reasons why women don’t have the courage to negotiate better salaries or ask for the perks that guys go for without hesitation.

Although its corporate ladder and payment structure does not apply to my freelancer lifestyle, plenty of the topics covered in the book have opened my eyes up to my insecurities around money and self-worth, highlighting blind spots of my own bias against my gender.
