Music, film and special “dolls” – these are some of the components of our next season concert this Sunday at the Great Hall of @wienerkonzerthaus! 📽️
Lead by Vimbayi Kaziboni, Conductor in Residence, we will present the third edition of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘭 including national and world premieres of fascinatingly diverse works by Anna Korsun, Koka Nikoladze, Hovik Sardaryan, Alexander Khubeev and Marina Khorkova. These positions from Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia – strong and radical – manifest themselves outside a streamlined cultural industry. In between the individual pieces, the audience has the chance to watch excerpts of films by Dziga Vertov and Sergej Eisenstein, produced between 1922 and 1929 and serving as personal references of the composers.

The music of Swedish composer Lisa Streich @lisastreichmusic combines wit with profound emotion. Her work Lupinen is named after the invasive plant species in her homeland, whose dangerous beauty becomes a metaphor in sound.
Bernhard Lang pushes the boundaries of classical scores with a piece from his GAME series. Here, form emerges through play: the musicians draw from shuffled card sets and follow a set of game rules. Self-organization becomes both the goal and the method of this compositional strategy.
