We’re proud to share that 'Daughters of the Late Colonel', the latest hand-painted animation by our long-time collaborator Elizabeth Hobbs, has been selected for the Official Short Films Competition at the Annecy Festival.

Fonic provided the voice recording.

Following the death of their ill-tempered, controlling father, two middle-aged sisters find themselves at a loss. An unexpected visitor sparks the courage they need to begin life anew.

'Daughters of the Late Colonel' is an animated adaptation of Katherine Mansfield’s modernist short story (1920).

In the latest series of Peppa Pig, which Fonic provided audio post, Daddy Pig ran the London Marathon, which was broadcast in March 2026.

He is now set to take on the same marathon for a second time this weekend, running the full 26.2 miles again alongside all the runners who have been training for the 2026 race. This follows the news that his son, George Pig, was found to be moderately deaf and needed to be fitted with a hearing aid.

Daddy Pig is aiming to raise £54,000 to support deaf children and their families for the National Deaf Children's Society.

You can follow Daddy Pig's progress will be trackable on the London Marathon app during the event on 26 April.

Fonic was pleased to provide audio post-production for The Naughty Seat, a new puppet animation short from London-based animator and director David Johnson, which has been selected for the 2025 BFI London Film Festival’s Animated Shorts for Younger Audiences programme on Sunday 19 October at 12:00 noon.

Produced by Famous Flying Films, The Naughty Seat is a visual comedy capturing a small moment in the lives of three inhabitants of a tropical island. It features the same characters as David’s earlier short Calamity Island, which Fonic also supported with sound.

In this film, a young penguin is sent to the naughty seat for misbehaving at dinner. However, the opportunities for mischief do not end there.

Toot Toot!

As part of our ongoing collaboration with @mattel, we’re proud to have played a key role in reviving the original 1983 Thomas the Tank Engine pilot for its 40th anniversary, narrated at the time by Ringo Starr.

The original master film had no soundtrack, so we were asked to recreate the full audio experience during postproduction. A key discovery was a 35mm magnetic tape labelled “Pilot FX” in Mattel’s archives, containing authentic railway sound effects recorded by the original editing team which formed the foundation of the restored soundscape. And for new scenes like the mine collapse we designed seamless sound effects that matched the style and feel of the era, ensuring a faithful and immersive experience.

This restoration celebrates the timeless charm of Thomas & Friends, connecting fans old and new with the magic of Sodor’s early days. You can watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eQWRCurJ
