So the beemobil was back in action! The bees somehow didn’t get on with a building site close to the old apiary. Thankfully @fothcp had space and granted both EastEndBees and EastEndBeekeeper asylum! Thank you so much! Look at how beautiful their new home is! I guess they are now EastEndZombees???

You may notice a new face around the park – say hello to Kit, our Seasonal Park Ranger 👋

He’ll be helping us out until the end of the year, looking after the park, its visitors, and our volunteer groups.

Kit's from Scotland but has lived in London for the past 7 years. He’s carried out practical conservation work on sites across the city and the surrounding countryside with London Wildlife Trust and the National Trust.

He's a frequent hiker and camper and works with charities to encourage more people to get outdoors and connect with nature.

Grab him for a chat when you see him in the park!

Wildflowers are out in full bloom across the Cemetery Park’s meadows in May. Goat’s Beard (Tragopogon pratensis) also known as Meadow Salsify and, Ruben, the Cemetery Park Officer’s favourite, Jack-go-to-bed-by-noon.

The plant, as its common name suggests, only flowers during the morning sun and closes its flower at noon. It flowers from May – August, so be quick to catch it across site during the morning shine.
Tragopogon pratensis is said to have roots that can be boiled and eaten like potatoes with fresh stems supposedly tasting like Asparagus and newer leaves edible as well.

If you’d like to help us maintain our wildflower meadows, consider volunteering with us by following the link below:

🌺✨ Red Valerian putting on a show at the Cemetery Park! ✨🌺

As you enter Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park via the Southern Grove gates, you’ll be greeted by vibrant clouds of Red Valerian (Centranthus ruber) blooming brightly among the graves 🌿💖

Despite the name, the flowers aren’t always red — you might spot shades of:
💗 Pink
❤️ Crimson
🤍 White
— all glowing in the spring sunshine ☀️

🌍 Mediterranean roots

Red Valerian was introduced to Britain from the Mediterranean in the 1600s as a garden plant, but quickly escaped and made itself at home in the wild.

It absolutely loves hot, dry, well-drained places, which is why old gravestones and walls suit it perfectly — our sunny grave tops recreate the rocky conditions of its Mediterranean homeland 🌺

🐝 A pollinator favourite

One of the best things about Red Valerian is its very long flowering season, often blooming from May right through to October 🌸➡️🍂

That means months of nectar for wildlife including:
🐝 Bees
🦋 Butterflies
🌙 Moths
—including the incredible Hummingbird Hawk-Moth, a day-flying moth that hovers like a tiny hummingbird while feeding 😮✨

🥗 Edible… but not delicious!

All parts of the plant are technically edible, though quite bitter, and have occasionally been used in soups and salads 🌿🍲

And despite the name, it’s not closely related to the Valerian used in sleepy teas 😴☕

👉 Action:
Next time you enter the Cemetery Park, pause and enjoy these bright splashes of colour 🌺
Watch for buzzing pollinators, snap a photo 📸, and share your sightings with us!

Now is the time for coloured portraits of these beautiful cemeteries.
Today, two necropolises from London
The Kensal Green Cemetery @friends_of_kensalgreencemetery and Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park @fothcp

Last year, with @elizamauro, we had the opportunity to visit London on an amazing trip

Of course, I had to be in some of “the greatest 7”
In the Kensal Green Cemetery, we had the chance of meeting our friend @whispersoftheforgotten, an amazing experience even to visit the catacombs!
If you wanna see that experience, there is a video on my YouTube channel! You can go for it!

Bank holiday weekend was chock-a-block with events and activities at the Cemetery Park! On Saturday our nest box recorders managed to complete the recording of all our nest boxes across site. On Sunday, 20 people joined our monthly weekend nature volunteering group to help control invasive species on-site and increase wildflower diversity within in our meadows. 🌱🌺🥀

That same day the Cemetery Park Officer, Ruben, led a Dusk Chorus walk with 20 people in attendance. On the walk, Blackbirds, Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps, Wrens, Robins and more were heard during nature’s springtime symphony. Sunday was also International Dawn Chorus Day. However, our Dawn Chorus walk will be on the 16th. 🐥🐦🐣On Monday, the Park Manager, Ken, led a guided walk for Dying Matters week.

Have a look out at our events page to join future Dusk/Dawn Chorus walks and check out all our Spring and Summer events! Follow the link below 👇

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
