Join us for Imagine you’re in a museum. What do you hear?, sound work by Bhavisha Panchia @future_laxmi . A curatorial and sonic practice that asks us to listen back in order to listen forward.

Imagine you’re in a museum. What do you hear?
2020
Sound work, 33 min.

Imagine you’re in a museum. What do you hear? is an audio collage that weaves together disparate musical tracks, extracts of interviews, speeches and audio notes as listening provocations that speak to the affective resonances of dislocation and dispossession of land, people and (im)material culture.

Bhavisha Panchia is a curator and writer. Her curatorial and written work centres on the social, cultural and ideological signification of sound and music in contemporary culture. With an interest in auditory media’s relationship to geopolitical paradigms, anti/postcolonial discourses and imperial histories, she considers how we can critically listen back to listen forward. She is the founder of Nothing to Commit Records, a label and publishing platform committed to the production and expansion of knowledge related to contemporary art and sound within and across the global South. Her writings have been published in books, journals and exhibition catalogues.

Another Gathering: The Beauty We Inherit is organised by Museum de Fundatie and the Research Centre for Material Culture

Curator Bhavisha Panchia reflects on Notes from Below, a multi-modal program comprising an exhibition at ACUD Galerie, Berlin (2023) and a podcast series on Parastatal (2025).

Through the work of Constanza Piña, Ana Paula Santana, Sara Ouhaddou, Simnikiwe Buhlungu, and Bianca Baldi, this essay examines how “listening beneath the surface” can operate as a method of resistance, recuperation, and the redistribution of knowledge.

"Older than the tongues that named me", a new sound episode on parastatal.art. Bianca Baldi is an artist whose work explores history, meaning, and knowledge production, often through narrative, fiction, and the reconfiguration of historical contexts and events. In conversation with Bhavisha Panchia, Baldi speaks about her relationship to writing and sound, the documentary image, and narrative. She reflects on how she navigates personal and collective histories of land, colonial exploitation, and belonging through sound and image, temporal constructions, and the embodied ‘voice’ of a sycamore tree.

Recap of 𝟮𝟰 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗦, a 24-hour retrospective exhibition of text and video works by American artist Tony Cokes. Alongside with DJ sets and live performances by Vladislav Delay (Sasu Ripatti), Antye Greie-Ripatti aka “AGF”, Islaja, and Cucina Povera, talks, DIY t-shirt-printing workshop, and interventions.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this major and memorable event happen. On 12th September for 24 hours the entirety of Tony Cokes film works spanning nearly four decades was presented across the interior and exterior of Amos Rex and its surrounding sites. The program transformed the museum’s cinema, passageways, facade, and the surrounding city space of Lasipalatsi Square into a dynamic arena for screenings, performances, and interventions.

Co-commisioned alongside the retrospective exhibition and live performances by Vladislav Delay (Sasu Ripatti) and an assembly of Finland-based musicians under the rubric Sonic Wilderness Remix: Antye Greie-Ripatti aka “AGF”, Islaja, and Cucina Povera.

Alongside this there was an Artist Talk with Tony Cokes in conversation with Paul O’Neill and Bavisha Panchia, moderated by Kieran Long and a Pop Up Silkscreen T-shirt Printing run by Kalasataman Seripaja

The event ran for 24 hours only – 6 am on 12 September to 6 am on 13 September.

Since the late 1980s, Tony Cokes has redefined media by interweaving textual, musical, and visual elements. Through his distinctive process of cutting, assembling, and rearranging fragments of history—archival footage, news broadcasts, political speeches, pop and club culture, theoretical texts, and conversations—Cokes constructs an incisive critique of media, power, and anti-Blackness, as well as consumerism and contemporary political discourse.

24 HOURS WITH TONY COKES was curated by PUBLICS with Bhavisha Panchia, in partnership with Amos Rex.

The event is from 6 am - 12 September to 6 am - 13 September and With 𝟮𝟰 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗦 approaching, PUBLICS co-curator Bhavisha Panchia offers a glimpse into the thinking behind the event:

“24 Hours with Tony Cokes is a retrospective in rhythm. Moving across different sites, it unfolds at shifting tempos. Rather than offering a fixed overview, the exhibition recomposes Cokes’ work through varying spatial and temporal arrangements, creating new connections through repetition and variation. Distributed across the museum, it invites audiences to encounter Cokes’ work as an iterative, evolving experience – embracing both accumulation and dispersion.

Cokes recomposes textual and musical excerpts into new audiovisual compositions, drawing from figures such as Mark Fisher, Donald Trump, Kodwo Eshun, Aretha Franklin, Killer Mike, and Radiohead. In this spirit of recomposing, artists AGF, Cucina Povera, Islaja, and Vladislav Delay act as sonic interlocutors, responding to Cokes’ practice through live performances that remix and reimagine his work.”

The event is from 6 am - 12 September to 6 am - 13 September.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
