I'm taking on the challenge of building a 1:1 replica of Eddie Van Halen’s legendary 1978 pedalboard— but there’s a catch. I'm not using a single piece of vintage gear. Instead, I'm recreating the entire signal chain using only modern reissue pedals and EVH signature effects to see if I can match essence of his iconic tone. Not only will you see the build process, the tones, and how this rig stacks up with me (poorly) playing some EVH-inspired riffs, but I'll be giving it away the entire pedalboard during the 2026 NAMM Show!
