May 15, Endangered Species Day feels like a joke as the Federal Government proposes to speed up major project proposals like pipelines, ports, and shipping expansion by “streamlining” environmental review and decision-making processes. All to under one year. What this really means is any existing protections for ecosystems and endangered species will be overridden in ‘’public interest’’.
With rampant approvals of major projects, the Salish Sea is getting louder, busier and dirtier and this impacts entire ecosystems including coastal communities in this region. The Government is giving mixed, contradictory signals on its comittment to nature and biodiversity protection, and we’ve had enough.
This is a moment to ask what “faster development” costs — and who pays the price.
Read the discussion paper in the link in bio, share this post widely, and send an email saying enough is enough. It’s now or never.#salishsea #southernresidentorcas #extinctionisforever #canadagov #endangeredspeciesday

✨Love with healthy boundaries is like a love like no other✨
Grey whale CRC-2688 has been making waves across Vancouver! This magical encounter at English Bay captivated community members lucky enough to witness the whale up close. 🥹
Very recently, the whale was involved in a collision with a jet ski near Kitsilano Beach, raising serious concerns about the safety and well-being of these incredible animals around boats and other vessels.
Loving them is one thing, educating ourselves, respecting marine wildlife regulations, following safe boating practices, and taking action to protect them is another.
Let’s make sure they are not reduced to just beautiful moments for us to experience. They are living beings deserving of care, caution, and protection. 🩵 #greywhale #englishbaybeach #vancouverwildlife #marinemammalregulations #kitsilanobeach

Saltwater Tongues is a poetry + environmental justice gathering where your words, your listening, and your presence all matter. Last year we heard stunning poems about marine mammals, bull kelp, and the deep pull of the ocean. This year, we'll explore what it means for the Salish Sea to thrive amidst a changing climate.
Bring your own words, someone else's, or any creative expression that moves you. Or just come to soak it in. All are welcome.

A coalition, including theAssociation of Denman Island Marine Stewards, the B.C. Shellfish Growers Association, Concerned Citizens of Baynes Sound, the David Suzuki Foundation, Stand.Earth, and West Coast Environmental Law have come together to raise the alarm about the Union Bay shipbreaking proposal by Coastal Gateway Port. Their joint letter urges for rigorous review with stronger oversight, transparency, and protection for Baynes Sound’s ecological, cultural, and economic values.
CGP is closely tied to Deep Water Recovery, the company that previously ran a shipbreaking yard on the same Union Bay site. The new proposal builds on DWR’s past dismantling work, even as the company faces a long record of pollution findings. In July 2025, the Province terminated DWR’s foreshore lease for failing to meet a pollution abatement order. These unresolved issues are a major backdrop to CGP’s plans and why communities are calling for stronger oversight and fully contained ship‑recycling facilities.
MP Gord Johns and MLA Josie Osborne have been advocating for a fully contained ship‑recycling facility in Port Alberni, a site designed with proper environmental controls and space for safe industrial work in collaboration with local and Indigenous communities. This model aligns with international standards and offers a safer path forward for ship breaking.
MP Gord Johns has highlighted the need for responsible ship recycling as part of Canada’s national marine strategy. With more end‑of‑life vessels in B.C. waters, he notes the urgency of modern, contained facilities built with strong environmental standards and developed with First Nations. With several federal vessels nearing retirement, Canada must be prepared not only to build ships, but to retire them safely.
The message is clear: communities are standing together for safer coasts, stronger standards, and real accountability.

🔈Canada just released the Spring Economic Update that includes over $250m for whale protection across all coasts. Shortly after the release of the Nature Strategy, we welcome Canada’s continued commitment to preserve its bountiful nature capital.
‼️However, this funding comes with a caveat: an acknowledgment that vessel traffic is expected to rise in the Salish Sea, increasing threats of underwater noise, ship strikes, pollution, and pressure on already stressed marine ecosystems, a consequence of Canada’s Trade Diversification Strategy.
We cautiously celebrate as we keep pushing for commitments on paper to become protections in practice.
🐳For Ocean Week 2026, we are co-hosting a national convention at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. We will advocate for whale-safe fisheries and entanglement solutions, ocean noise reduction, stronger habitat and marine spatial protections, and stronger long-term regulatory changes.
And of course, build stronger relationships with our allies. Together, we’re stronger!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
