From the very first time we met, Doug showed me so much kindness and generosity. I never asked him for a thing. He just gave me a big hug, pinched my cheeks, and asked if we could go get lunch at his favorite diner. I couldn’t believe it. In that very first meeting after chatting for hours, Doug said: “You know, if I ever had a son, he’d probably be something like you. So if you ever write a film where I get to play your Dad, I’ll do it.” I was speechless, and overwhelmed with self-doubt. One of my favorite actors from my childhood just asked me to do what?!? What would I even write? Would it be any good? How would I raise the money?
For months, I was paralyzed by all those questions—until I finally decided it was time to take a chance on myself and finally do it. Above all else, I think what I’m most proud of is that I followed through. Throughout this creative process, I got in my own way many times—but I kept going. I kept rewriting. I kept iterating, I kept working on the story until it became something I was proud of.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Doug Jones for his kindness, generosity, and belief in me. All of our times at the diner, meeting your family, and being a part of your world have been unforgettable.
The most important thing I’ve learned from Doug, is to love myself and others more the way Doug loves. When you’re with him, he makes you feel like magic. Everyone deserves that feeling, and I hope to take that magic with me wherever I go.

I am so excited to share this short I recently had the joy and honor of creating. I have always been a huge fan of What We Do in the Shadows. I love this beautiful, silly, comedic world of vampires created by Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement and Paul Simms. This show has always been a comfort to me, and I thought it would be fun to create a character within that universe that I could see myself playing one day. This scene wouldn’t have been possible without the very talented @joshuagoodman52 , @melissablueward
I also want to thank my acting coach @dougspearman for inspiring me and telling me that I was hilarious and needed to put myself out there and try more comedy. You planted this seed earlier this year and your encouragement meant the world to me.
I really hope this encourages more of my fellow actors to create content that they are inspired by and love. Your authentic voice is important, and if you aren’t seeing those opportunities in front of you, don’t let that keep you from taking a step into the unknown and creating something that you are passionate about.
