💟 The Year of the Dirt is officially over! 🛐

12 months, 12 Releases. (+2 trax on comps) 4 hours of music. (I was not expecting it to be anywhere near that many minutes!!!) What started on a whim turned out to be something very special.After all these years and a hard 2024 it was nice to find that I’m still hungry to work and grow, and the passion is still there. The last twelve months was one of my most exciting musical growth periods, and honestly I was surprised.Truly thrilled to say I’m still learning so much and it feels great.Not going to lie, January was a hard month.Not having the constant pressure of deadlines as a distraction actually opened up lots of introspection and tbh I think I was a bit exhausted. Anyway!!! :p

H.T.D. & Past Lives. Hard, fast, and fun.

New drop. EXT.909 (GG110). The newest release via @grngld mastered by @norfikofficial available via @bandcamp streaming sometime next week everywhere besides Spotify.
I am very excited to release this body of work today, this project was created mostly on my last trip to Portland while staying with @_slurgeon to play @thirstycity_ the trip was such an amazing experience. I had been informed before my vacation that the job I had been at for almost ten years was letting me go, the company was closing and in turn I had no idea what was next. It was liberating, Portland served as a perfect setting to let go and embrace my creativity. This album is an exploration and return to form for me. This was an experience of letting go of expectations, allowing the music to be just what it is with no attachment to anything besides the amazing process of creating I enjoy so much, always have and hope to always enjoy. To stay constantly evolving, learning and exploring sound. The nights of that trip were filled with excursions to @process.pdx to return home and have heart warming humorous and vulnerable conversations with @_slurgeon about my fears, loves and concerns for a future. The support and drive to pursue this sound was met with support, encouragement and grace by my friend and amazing host. His cat Walter approved every mix with a soft presence and a warm cuddle. The experience of Portland’s nightlife and community was welcoming, a much needed break away from the California pacing of events. To be honest I have not gone out much here in California, mostly due to work and lifestyle changes but none the less the experiences at process were refreshing, exciting and a return to appreciating the one thing that brings us all there. The music. No phones on the dance floor.Amazing sound system. A friendly collection of people. When I returned home I had over 15 tracks and I knew I needed some help with honing in on the final presentation for this body of work. I reached out to @norfikofficial and asked him to master the project and collaborate on the final selections. The process of working in a creative effort with a mastering engineer was an amazing experience. Thankful.

Today Dirty Merlin returns for the fourth installation in their ‘Year of the Dirt’ series. An ambitious project bringing us a new release every month for the entirety of 2025, this month’s offering is an EP featuring a pair of breakbeat-centric, bass heavy, house tracks entitled ‘Give 2 U.’

According to Dirty Merlin, these tunes were initially crafted in 2022 but sat in the vaults until they were polished up in 2024 & 2025 for public consumption. Both tracks are perfectly suited for an open air party under a sunny or slightly cloudy sky.
