So excited to announce @pearlrivermart will be hosting the 11th annual Red Envelope Show! 🙌🧧🙌 Curated by Albert Chau (aka @grumpybert), this long-running exhibition features contemporary artists and illustrators from across the country and their unique interpretations of this iconic Lunar New Year tradition.

“The red envelope is a core childhood memory of mine,” Albert told us. “They were given out during celebrations and gatherings. If I didn’t want to go to a family gathering, the incentive would be the red envelopes.

“I also remember the beautiful variety of the lai see. The shiny gold Chinese characters. The colorful and playful designs that had the year of the animal. In a way the Red Envelope Show brings those memories back to life.”

About 100 artists will be showcasing their work in our Soho gallery. Join us for the ✨opening reception on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 5 to 7 PM✨ Attendance is free but registration is appreciated (link in bio). The Red Envelope Show is on view at @pearlrivermart through March 29 🧧

• Creating these red envelopes has always been a nice way to start the year—I consider it a little tradition for myself. This year is extra special because I am a horse!! According to Chinese superstition, that means it's gonna be a hard year for me, but I REBUKE THIS! It WILL BE A GOOD YEAR FOR ME, I DEMAND IT!

Had so much fun with @johnelliottcbs talking about Lunar New Year! The veteran meteorologist came to our Soho store for a Lunar New Year-edition of his @cbsnewyork Sunday morning show, during which we shared fun facts about the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Horse personality, the importance of wearing new clothes, and other Lunar New Year traditions.
