I love shooting flashback scenes for some reason. They are usually very focused on portraying a specific emotion, imperfect, subjective and raw. For the scenes in this music video for @finding.cleo I used a @lensbabyusa composer pro 50mm for a more dreamy feel. Subtle film overlays and #dehancer helped to create a different look as well. Thanks to @niu.uey for your awesome job jumping right into the intimate scenes and giving your all! 🙌 loved every minute of it!

What a wonderful song by @finding.cleo this is! I loved it from the first time listening to it until the 500th time when I finished the edit. Proud of what we pulled off without a big team and big budget.

This was one of the last shots of the main shoot day. I tried a bunch of different ways to light it but wasn’t quite happy with it. In the end I stripped it down to simple practicals (real candles and table lamp in the background) a #titantube on the top of the piano slightly offset, giving her a key and keeping some shade on the camera side. A slight fill onto the ceiling with a warmed up #aputure300x. Let me know what you think!

I’m a cinematographer for the same reason that I am a songwriter, I want to tell a story and move people. Creating music videos is a wonderful chance to do just that. Especially so, when the song is truly heartfelt and raw. @miuofficial and I originally had planned to shoot the performance scenes at a public piano in London, but it ended up not being possible. So we set something up at @the.marmalade which gave me a lot more control over the lighting, but more so created a truly intimate atmosphere. This tear was not scripted or planned - it was a real moment when @miuofficial sang her song and forgot about the camera. She continued on and I immediately knew I wanted to keep this in the video, if she would let me.
