Calling all vibe-setters, mood-makers, and tech tinkerers! We’re kicking off our event series weekend with a night of experimentation and visuals from our pals @hamiltonopticks ! This group of artists and experience-makers use light, projection, media and more to create atmospheric vibes and their open lab nights seek to be a place for attendees to enjoy the sights or even take part if they feel so inclined! Check out their profile for more details on what they do! We’ll be slinging @bellwoodsbeer and fun drinks, there will be vibey tunes, and it’ll be your first look at our beautiful venue- Magnolia Hall. Can’t wait to see how they play with the space! Open to all ages and the first hour from 6-7pm will be primarily focused on hands-on fun for kiddos or beginners to play around with light. So bring your little, or meet up with a pal, and vibe out on a Thursday night in February- it might be JUST what ya need 😘 #HamOnt

Feel like a winter escape? Come join us on Thursday February 12th (6-9PM) for our first Open Lab of 2026! Hosted at Magnolia Hall (115 Hunter St. West), as a kick off to the multi day event hosted by @dreamweaver.wm @smorgasbord.hamilton and @shmendrik___ . This venue was meant to be covered with projections!

We invite all curious minds to come out and either participate in light/projection art, or just come for the vibes. All backgrounds/skill levels are welcomed! Open Labs are our way of connecting with our community, and for creatives a chance to make some ephemeral, and often collaborative, experiments.

This is a FREE family friendly event and we will have some interactive elements that are suitable and fun for the younger ones. Check out our website (in bio) or, past reels, or our YouTube channel to get a feel for what they’re like.

OPTICKS is a not-for-profit with a goal of making projection & light art more accessible in our community.

Hey all! Our next OPTICKS open lab is happening outdoors on Saturday, October 4, 7–10 PM at Beasley Park.

We’ll be setting up projectors, laptops, and experiments under the night sky - illuminating the park with light and interactive play. Think of it as a temporary playground for projection, reflection, or whatever materials you’d like to bring along.

As always, the format is open: one laptop/projector/source per person works well. Since we’re running off generators for this event, we’ve set up a sign-up sheet in our Discord for those who want to bring gear (first come, first serve).

This is a free, open invitation - bring your sketches, friends, or just come hang out and see what manifests as we light up Beasley together.

This project was made possible with the City of Hamilton’s Downtown Hamilton Placemaking Grant.

------ Earth, Wind, and Choir ------
EW&C takes pride in presenting idiosyncratic takes on the most beautiful, ugly, and/or interesting music it can find -- from early polyphony to avant-pop. EW&C values creativity and curiosity, leading to many collaborations. They are presently and graciously hosted in St Lukes after calling HAVN home for many years.

------ WomENchant Chorus ------
WomEnchant Chorus and Drummers is a community ensemble of women with diverse musical experience, performing music that demonstrates the power of sisterhood and song.  We call for peace, justice, and good stewardship of the land, while demonstrating to the future generations of women that they too can write their own songs, tell their own stories, and build on the work of those who came before.

------ Tuesday Choir ------
Tuesday Choir is a drop-in style choir, active since 2014, focused on the social value of collective singing. Their repertoire is built collectively and shows a strong affection for pop and roots music from the last four decades. Tuesday Choir always prioritizes joy over technical accomplishment and meets weekly at the Cat and Fiddle Pub in downtown Hamilton.

----- OPTICKS ------
OPTICKS is an experimental projection and light art initiative based in Hamilton. People of all interest levels and backgrounds can attend their free ‘Open Labs’ to participate and explore the fields of projection and light art. The aim is to foster a space for learning, not ego - to explore, experiment, and create light and projection art.  OPTICKS uniquely encourages intermixing signals and overlapping projections, resulting in unique, ethereal collages. An informal group of OPTICKS collaborators will occasionally participate in performances and events

Join us on Thursday, May 29, from 7–11 PM at Farside (288 James St N) for an evening of creative exploration.

Bring your projects, gadgets, materials, wild ideas, and a curious mind. We’ll be cross-contaminating signals and media, transforming the space throughout the evening.

Let’s see what chaotic magick we can cook up together.

This is an open invite - feel free to bring along fellow tinkerers or anyone interested in hanging out.

See you there! ✨

OPTICKS were invited to create an immersive projection show for an intimate @hamiltonphilharmonic performance as part of HPO’s Intimate & Immersive: The Five Senses!. This is a montage of snippets from the evening. The music is ‘Gold Leaf’ by Linda Catlin Smith as performed live by the HPO. We hold no rights to the music.

Contributing artists include: @threedeegraffiti,@leaftonlabs,@strangeprocess, Zane, Darryl, Cale & @aaapoc.

February 27th, 2025 at the Cotton Factory, Hamilton, Ontario Canada.

Join us for a special event this Thursday evening, as we provide visuals for @hamiltonphilharmonic’s special “Intimate & Immersive: The Five Senses” concert at @cottonfactoryca. Ticket link in bio! Use the code word OPTICKS20 for 20% off 😉.

We are very honoured to take part in this collaboration, and hope to see you there. ✨✌️

More about the show from the HPO:
Our experiences as humans are governed by our senses and their interaction with the world that surrounds us. From sight affecting how we hear in a concert, smell impacting our visual perception of things and people, as well as accounting for a myriad of other examples, we experience the subtle and mysterious dance of our senses without much thought. It is in their absence that we feel their value the most and observe the most radical changes in our human experiences.

In the intimate and warm atmosphere of the Cotton Factory, visually transformed by immersive light and colour schemes, we explore the five senses, their absence and the relationship between them through music and sound.

News from OPTICKS! As of December, we are now official registered as a not-for-profit incorporation in Ontario. We made this decision in hopes of furthering our founding ethos of making light art and projection art accessible to our community. Being a member is free, and all it takes is signing up with a quick form (link in bio). Lots more to come in 2025 onwards ✨

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
