Friends,
It’s happening. The Loved One is finally here.
We’ve been building out our new gallery/bookshop in Historic Filipinotown/Echo Park for two months and during that time we’ve soft launched the space, hosting five events since pocketing the keys. Each one lifted our spirits as seats filled and our featured guests engaged with their audiences.
Please follow along as we post updates about books we love, events we’re hosting, and exhibitions we’ll be staging with gallery co-founder, collaborator, curator, and art dealer @aubrie_wienholt of @wienholtprojects, who will be co-programming art shows and cooking up exciting new projects with us at The Loved One. An inaugural group show is already underway—more on that soon.
In the meantime, we’re dropping some photos here from the first few events we had the sincere pleasure of hosting. In no particular order, they are snaps from a night devoted to 80s phenomenon Max Headroom; a conversation with writer, professor, and musician @viviengoldmanforreal; the LA debut of London art magazine Effects’ latest issue; a four-year anniversary party for Agape Poetry Lodge; and the LA launch of @mollycrabapple’s NYT’s best-selling book *Here Where We Live is Our Country* with Hannah Einbinder and several writers reading from and celebrating Molly’s incredible new book.
As a bonus to us all, we’re delighted to be sharing the street with @1642_bar, one of our favorite establishments in LA, and @couplet coffee for all your nearby sipping needs. Cheers to all-time good community vibes and friendly next-door neighbors. 📚 ☕️ 🍷
We’re excited for what’s to come and hope to see you in the shop. Regular hours soon.
Always be reading,

As a bonus to us all, we’re delighted to be sharing the street with @1642_bar, one of our favorite establishments in LA, and @couplet coffee for all your nearby sipping needs. Cheers to all-time good community vibes and friendly next-door neighbors. 📚 ☕️ 🍷
We’re excited for what’s to come and hope to see you in the shop. Regular hours soon.
Always be reading,
The Loved One

Early heads up about a fun talk we’re hosting at The Loved One with writer/professor Howard Rodman next month. Moderated by the wonderfully intelligent critical thinker Joanne McNeil, the event will take place on June 4th in the middle of Howard’s book tour. It ends in P-town in July. Go see him if you have the chance, aspiring screenwriters in particular. He knows a thing or two. (RSVP link in the @hatandbeardpress bio.)

Finding out from Hat & Beard’s own Orian Williams, the visionary film producer/photographer, that it was Anton Corbijn’s birthday yesterday. HBD, Anton!
Slide left for a peak at B-Sides, Orian’s book of photography featuring a collection of spontaneous black and white images that perfectly capture the emotional weight of a moment with only light and shadow.
The formidable images are a decades-long record of Orian’s natural affinity for seizing the essence of a whole experience in just one frame. Tap the tag to read more about the beginnings of his craft.

I first encountered the atmosphere that would later become known as dungeon synth more than twenty years ago while traveling through rural Norway to photograph Valfar of Windir. The music transformed the landscape around me — forests, mountains, ruins, weather — into something mythic and strangely timeless.
Years later, I began photographing the world that grew from those ideas.
For the last three years I’ve traveled through a global underground of musicians and artists whose work exists largely outside commercial systems: handmade tapes, private studios, isolated landscapes, and small circles of exchange.
DUNGEON SYNTH is the result.
256 pages. Hardcover clothbound edition published by Hat & Beard Press. Edited by Johan Kugelberg.
Pre-orders are now open. Link in bio. European distros coming soon!

Fun to spend some time at the Miracle Theater in Inglewood, a part of town we don’t often get to, for the Inglewood Photography Festival. Lots of gearheads and old school film cameras slung around the necks of so many of the visitors! It was a printer, developer, and film supplier field day too. Thanks for having us @iphotofestival, @nicholaspfahey, @rathin_vr and @iconla. 📷 🎞️ 📷 Especially appreciated the Randy’s Donuts. 😋

LA’s premier poet of regret and resentment (according to the @lareviewofbooks), John Tottenham’s Fresh Failure is a staff rec at Shakespeare & Co., Paris’ most famous bookshop, English or otherwise. If you haven’t had the pleasure of sitting with Tottenham’s poetry, do yourself a favor and start here. Indiscriminate disdain and humor await.

Please stop by The Loved One this Friday as we celebrate the LA launch of the fourth issue of Effects, a journal of art, poetry, and essays.
Joining us will be art writer and curator Jan Tumlir, with contributors Lakshmi Luthra, Paul Sietsema, and Zachary Korol Gold.
The issue is an exploration of Holes in all their psychic and bodily forms—political, philosophical, architectural, geological, destructive, productive, as grave pits, as birth canals … 🕳️
Few copies remaining. Come get one and dig in.

I am so happy to reveal a special project I have been working on with @hatandbeardpress , coming this fall ! My first monograph, La Bricoleuse, is now available for pre-sale at the link in bio ! I can’t wait to share this comprehensive look at my work, alongside essays by the amazing @danagoodyear and @cat.taft.cat , design by @goldella ✨
“Gabbiani’s works on paper depict overlooked landscapes across natural and urban habitats, brought to life using intricately cut paper densely layered over mixed-media washes and airbrushed gradients. The result is abundant with as much texture as meaning, revealing a fundamental understanding of humanity’s subordinate standing to the omnipresence of Mother Nature, and a reverence for the reciprocal cycles of life— withering and blossoming, death and rebirth— through an Ecofeminist lens.”

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
