Heart of Dinner 愛心餐
Addressing food insecurity & social isolation among Asian American older adults
NYC-founded in 2020 🌈👭🏻
Over 262,046 meals served
This voicemail has lived in our phone since 2020. On the hardest days, we listen to it and remember why we keep going.
Love has always been at the center of what we do and it lives in every meal, every handwritten note, every hand-illustrated bag, every knock on a door. Every. Single. Detail. And it reaches our Elders each week because of you.
Watching their faces light up when they receive their care packages, hearing them say they’ve never experienced anything quite like this…this is what we strive for every single day behind the scenes at Heart of Dinner. For a community that’s been historically overlooked, we’re not just addressing food insecurity, but the profound loneliness that so often accompanies it.
From those first meals cooked and love notes penned in our apartment to now nourishing over 800 Elders weekly across NYC, your support since day one has made every bit of this growth possible.
Thank you for helping us show our Elders that they’re deeply loved and seen, year after year. Week after week.

🏠 To our friends, volunteers, partners, donors, and team members featured in these moments from nearly 6 years of Heart of Dinner— you make this love real every week. 🎙️ Thank you @susannayoon for translating from Chinese to English 🙏
🎥📸 Thank you to all our incredible volunteers and partners over the years for contributing the photos and videos seen in this reel ❤️

We’re deeply grateful to @adamreiner and @civileats for this incredible feature (swipe right for snippets of the piece & link in bio for full 12pg story). Adam spent months with our community, listening deeply and volunteering at two of our operations sites with such care, while interviewing individuals from New York to Los Angeles to understand the scope and multifaceted depth of our work and the extraordinary community it takes to nourish our Elders week after week. 🤍
Five years in, Heart of Dinner has worked to remove obstacles that have historically kept essential resources from reaching our Elders. Whether facing institutional gaps that leave them without culturally appropriate necessities, the pandemic and surging xenophobia, the catastrophic L.A. wildfires, or the indiscriminate targeting that instills fear and inflicts pain on communities already facing barriers—we remain steadfast in showing up consistently to see our Elders in their full humanity and remind them: “You belong. You are home. You are loved.”
We’re grateful to have built a beautiful ecosystem that enables us to carry this mission forward— including partnerships with local eateries (@fongon1933, @partybusbakeshop, @nbwingwong, @saigonsocialnyc, @zaabzaabnyc @wuswontonking), farmers (@choycommons), and community collaborators like @essexmarket @lamarquetanyc. And a space for volunteers to call home, lovingly guided by our team @anna.slee, @annielunyc, @gwrncieges, @jennifer.trn_, @patti.look, and @zlau. ❤️

THIS is Heart of Dinner 🥹❤️
Last night we gathered at @georgies_les to celebrate nearly 150 of the most incredible humans who pour their L-O-V-E into Heart of Dinner week after week. AND to mark a milestone we’re still pinching ourselves over: 250,000+ meals delivered and 5½ years of nourishing our Elders together!
The laughter was joyous, the reconnections were 🥹 to witness, watching volunteers meet for the first time and instantly hit it off, gathering around the table, surprising Volunteers with a “Big Hearts Market” to bring home some nourishment and seeing eyes get wide with audible gasps…ALL of it was absolute M-A-G-I-C. And goodness, the most heart-tugging speeches from our incredible team…tears were shed.
To every single person pictured (and to the many more who aren’t), THANK YOU for volunteering and consistently showing up again and again. Whether decorating a bag, penning a love note, building a care package, making a delivery, or calling Elders each week…you’ve directly uplifted our Elders spirits and nourished their whole selves.
We see you, we appreciate you, and we’re endlessly grateful for you. None of this is possible without our community of Big Hearted Volunteers and our Team. Forever love and gratitude for you all.
Part 2 post coming soon, but we’re way too excited to keep these photos to ourselves for another minute!
Photos by the one-and-only BRILLIANT @samyck who captured the magic in every detail so beautifully!!
(Also peep the cultural politeness of not taking the last item: the one lone chamoe melon on the table 😅🫶)

When women-led organizations team up to uplift NYC…🥹🗽🏀
We’re still riding the high of a two-day AAPI Heritage Month collaboration with @nyliberty @nyliberty_community, an A+ alignment of shared values and the collective strength of women-led leadership.
DAY 1️⃣: We kicked things off at our Two Bridges site, hosting the wonderful New York Liberty staff for a hands-on volunteer day. Side-by-side with our team and seasoned volunteers, we poured love into creating gorgeous illustrations on bags and building culturally thoughtful care packages to hand-deliver to our beloved Elders.
DAY 2️⃣ (GAME DAY!): We brought that court-side energy to @nyliberty @nyliberty_community’s AAPI Night at @barclayscenter! Our incredible team and volunteers held down the concourse booth as so many amazing fans (and many HOD longtime supporters😍) stopped by to contribute their own beautiful art and creativity, reminding our Elders that they are deeply loved.
One of our dream moments?! Looking up to see our team and volunteers spotlighted on the Jumbotron! 🥹 This milestone feels even more meaningful because the NY Liberty team has stood by our side and helped us grow for years. Endless gratitude to @alliemoogan and the entire team for continuing to amplify our work, and inviting over 100 of our supporters to the game, and showing up for us year after year. 🤝

Tonight is the night! We are incredibly honored and excited to be part of the AAPI Night game with @nyliberty @nyliberty_community and @barclayscenter!
As we celebrate our rich heritage and vibrant culture tonight, we’re bringing our mission of love and human connection straight to the arena and would love for you to come join us!
📍 Where to find us: Section 19
🎨🖌️What: Visit our section to decorate Heart of Dinner care package bags where your beautiful contributions will bring JOY and comfort to the Elders we serve.
🏠🥬 Every single hand-decorated bag from your contributions tonight will be used to build our upcoming cycle of care packages where they’ll be filled with culturally thoughtful groceries and cooked dishes. Many of the Elders we serve live with food insecurity and in isolation, and your creativity directly addresses their emotional health and wellbeing by reminding them that they are seen and deeply loved.
If you’ll be attending tonight’s game, come by and help us decorate our beloved care package bags!!🗽🏀❤️

Join us at Kisa for a special late-night kimchi-making class with bites + flowing makgeolli and our Mannam soju.
On May 30, from 11pm–1am, we’re hosting a fun hands-on class where you’ll learn the art of making kimchi over kimjang-style bites and makgeolli pours. At the end of the night, you’ll take home one jar of kimchi for yourself and donate another through @heartofdinner, which delivers the jars to displaced Korean immigrant elders at Nanoom House in Flushing, along with hand-written notes and weekly groceries.
Kimchi has long been more than just food, it’s tradition, care, and something to be shared with others.
Tickets go live on Resy at midnight tonight, link in bio.

Moonlynn and Yin co-founded Heart of Dinner, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity that addresses food insecurity, social isolation, and loneliness among Asian American older adults living in under‑resourced and underinvested communities.
When the two first started seeing each other, Moonlynn made Yin 100% homemade Hainanese chicken and rice. The dish reminded Yin of home, because her mother's side is Malaysian, and she grew up visiting family in Malaysia and Singapore. Moonlynn is Taiwanese, and this early gesture of love in their relationship made them both appreciate their shared culture -another level of sharing language they didn't know was possible. 11 years later, Moonlynn is still waiting for Yin to make this chicken pot pie of hers that she's heard so much about.

Happy 2-year runniversary to @awstars_nyc, a community run club founded by @yearofclaude @elliewindham for AANHPI women to feel seen and celebrated!
The route started at @cafediemnyc this morning and weaved through the heart of Chinatown and the Lower East Side, finishing at the newly opened stretch of East River Park under the Williamsburg Bridge. Runners jumped straight from the finish line into decorating @heartofdinner bags, alongside snacking on delicious treats from @banhmicoutnyc @cafediemnyc @getshufu.
Thank you Claudette + Ellie for making @heartofdinner part of your milestone, we can’t wait to build care packages for our Elders with the beautiful art created today 🙏💗
New Yorkers > The Rain. ☔️💪
A massive thank you to everyone who braved the downpour yesterday. We were packed at @maum.market until the very end with attendees decorating bags for our upcoming care package deliveries with their spirits high and not a single person minding the weather.
From our team member @jennifer.trn_ and amazing community of volunteers and longtime supporters @catethai, Elsa, Ashley kicking things off with a stunning setup, to Natalie joining us in closing things out in the pouring rain, all sharing about our work and guiding everyone through our bag decorating guidelines.
We were constantly blown away by the kindness at our table yesterday. From the Dad of the Year who held an umbrella over his daughter for 45 min while she finished her manga-style masterpiece, to the strangers sharing umbrellas so everyone had a dry seat. We even had a young friend come back a second time to show her friend how she remembered us from decorating bags with her elementary school!
NYC, you never cease to amaze us. Thank you for always showing up (check the end of the reel to see the rain!) And thank you to our friends at @maum.market for inviting us to join along your multi-city market events so we can share our mission with new friends!
Catch us next at @maum.market’s San Francisco event on Sunday, May 31st + help us decorate bags for our upcoming home deliveries to Elders in Los Angeles!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
