Join us for the third edition of the Lagos Queer Film Festival! We have a three-day program: offsite screening and kickoff party on the evening of June 13, Day 1 of the festival on June 14, Day 2 of the festival on June 15, 2025. The full program of the festival as well as registration details will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here is a snippet of what is to come!

On Day 1, June 14, 2025, we are excited to present, in collaboration with Cinelimite (@cinelimite), a program of recently digitized radical Brazilian queer shorts from the 1980s. At the height of the military dictatorship, a group of militant queer filmmakers began collaborating on Super-8 films using experimental documentary techniques to address queer issues in Paraíba, in the northeast of Brazil.

Program:
Closes, 1982, Pedro Nunes (@pedro.nunesfilho.9), 33’
Era Vermelho Seu Batom, 1983, Nós Também, 12’
Perequeté, 1981, Bertrand Lira (@bertrandlira), 21’
Baltazar da Lomba, 1982, Henrique Magalhães, 19’

Closes (1982), by Pedro Nunes, features interviews with Brazilians discussing gay rights, interspersed with a romantic story of gay love that culminates in sex on a beach.

Era Vermelho Seu Batom (1983), by Henrique Magalhães, examines stereotypes and discrimination within the gay community and the tensions between closeted and out men.

Baltazar da Lomba (1982), by queer activist collective Nós Também and Henrique Magalhães, self-reflexively re-enacts the story of the first man convicted of sodomy in colonial Brazil.

Finally, Perequeté (1981), by Bertrand Lira, is a more direct portrait of drag actor and dancer Francisco Marto.

(Synopses by Cinelimite).

Last month marked eight years of hFACTOR…

It started as a collective of four people working across art, policy and social impact with a shared vision: infinite possibilities of expression, creativity as a lifestyle, advancing notions of queer safety and the desire to shape the creative world into something more expansive, accessible and inclusive.

That vision has evolved over time. hFACTOR has now moved beyond the people that conceived it, beyond production cycles, events and outputs. It now exists as a value system. Today, hFACTOR represents freedom, creativity and the power to generate new realities through words and practice. It can’t be turned on or off by activity, it’s a mindset that continues to evolve, articulate and guide. It’s a way of thinking, building and engaging with culture and it represents the freedom to Be and Create outside the limitations, expectations and the structures we’ve inherited.

Culture isn’t fixed and it doesn’t belong to one group it’s made through participation, practice, revival, recomposition and our shared experiences; not ownership. The freedom to Be and Create allows us to shape culture authentically through both our individual and collective identities and this allows us to build environments that support and encourage our success.

Watch this space for abundance labs, stories and workshops designed to Cultivate Abundant Minds 📈💵🌀

The installation for “The Day After the Night Before” is an evolving trope that features in Osione Itegboje’s work.

In 2018, as part of an hFACTOR Collective ( @hfactor.co ) residency at M.bassy Hamburg ( @mbassy_hamburg ), a scattered bedroom created the basis of the “Queering Spaces” exhibition. The work questioned the nature of life in Lagos as inherently ‘queer’ or ‘unlike what is known elsewhere.’ Osione’s naval-gazing pieces highlighted a deeply inherent fragility, but always through scenes that were recognizably lived in, reminding us that art does not exist apart from the everyday—it must inhabit the same mess, intimacy, and contradiction we do.

In this installation for FNB Art Joburg, curator Fabia Alabraba ( @_fabsalabs ) masterfully builds on this ideology, queering the art fair space and challenging the norm of what booths should look like. She insists that art is not something to be observed at a safe distance, but something that presses against us, unsettles us, and insists on presence—in the body of the artist, in the audience, and in the moment of encounter.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible.
